    Okay friends,

My wife and I were discussing that if I became a realtor after the Air Force what car would I drive my clients in. I said I would get a BMW E39 M5 slightly lowered on nice time era correct wheels to drive my clients around as it's a very sophisticated, nice-looking sedan. She thinks that's a bad idea and that I need to drive around a Lexus SUV or something of that sort. What are your thoughts, what kind of vehicle do you think would look good for a realtor to drive around? I have attached photos of the M5 and a regular run of the mill Lexus SUV for reference.BMW-E39-M5-By-Vorsteiner-Image-36.jpg Lexus-RX-350-fsport-styles-overview-1204x555-LEXRXGMY160059.jpg

SUV, always. It's a business vehicle, not just an image. You need comfortable and easily accessible and comfortable seating for all ages, and showing up in a lowered BMW on wheels isn't exactly the image I'd want as a Realtor or in a Realtor I was working with.

My Realtor is extremely successful, drives leased Ford's. Went from a Fusion to an Edge.

I would get a nice SUV, nothing fancy. You want the room to comfortably haul clients around and their kids maybe, but also don't want to come off like a prick with a BMW, Porsche, etc. which would say "this guy makes too much money, probably shouldn't trust him", something like a nice Explorer, Edge, Yukon, etc. in a higher trim, comfort but also middle class, nice guy roots.

I just noticed your on JBMDL as well. Think I've seen your truck before, lifted with black wheels? Been here 5 years, finally escaping in 9 days back this miserable place to DM and then separating.

    A few things
The real eatate agent we used last year to buy our house had a 10+/- year old lexus suv. Seemed like a good/comfortable car to hall people around in.

I live and work selling Real Estate in a nice area. Used a 7 series (long edition) for years. Great cars but certainly not needed. I have a 528i M Sport I use now. Most folks don't even get in my car. Use what works for you. Time prospecting is much more valuable than choosing what car. I have coached and managed 100 plus agents. What is most important is that you can get to 'work' on time in a reliable vehicle. I have shown property in my M3 if its the right clients. Very rare, if ever do my clients ever see my beater. :)

4runner, land cruiser, gx lexus would be my choices

macan or cayenne are great and under valued however you can get more space out of the toyota and driving a family around +1, you want space

lr3 and lr4 are also underrated trucks

if you really want space though a ford expedition is huge

I have seen many agents go high line only to realize they don't want to spend the money on repairs and maintenance. A Ford Expedition is an excellent choice - they typically last for ever. Another alternative that I have suggested to many in our biz is the Lincoln Navigator. :)

I'm with these guys. I dealt with a realtor that showed up in a lowered, murdered out car once and I couldn't take him seriously. My fav local realtor drives a stock Escalade

If you're going to drive clients around you want something comfortable and quiet. Plus something that projects sophistication and success but not arrogance. LX570 or Land Cruiser!!!!!!! Plus you can turn it into an expo rig in 10 years when you want a new DD.

Tahoe or Yukon. Large enough to haul clients around if needed and large enough to haul signs or other things you may need.

For what it's worth, I don't have any personal experience with realtors but I would agree with your wife that the lowered BMW would not be the best approach for that kind of thing. I would personally go amongst the lines of a Lexus SUV (NOT THE NX), Escalade, Expedition, Denali, High trim Tahoe, and of course if you have the money, a Cayanne is a great choice

Thanks for all the advise fellas. I guess hearing lowered BMW on wheels does scream car guy. When I bought my house in VA 7 years ago, the realtor drove a burning ford, but when she found out I had an M3, she drove me to a few places in their 80s 911.

I gotta need the recommendations and suggestions especially from those who have done it before.

    Thanks again

Unless you're really good at driving stick those clients won't enjoy the shift jerks. Also m5 are awesome cars and need a lot of maintenance to stay reliable. You don't want a break down either when taking your clients or trying to get to an appointment.

Uplevel Ford Explorer, Acura MDX, maybe a CTS. Think of your clients.

Are they going to be impressed by a hot-rod car, or are they going to think:
    BMW prick.
That low car is going to hard to get in and out of all day looking at houses.
He's going to drive too fast.
    It's going to be uncomfortable.
He's going to bilk me of every dime.

Trust me, they don't give a crap about your fancy car. They want a good house at a good price in a good neighborhood. Why risk putting any of the above thoughts into their heads and make working with you even the least bit more antagonistic?

Drive a common sense vehicle and show them that you have common sense. It will help them trust you. Keep the flashy rewards of a good income private.
