Yeah I don't understand why everyone is getting so butt hurt over it. To me, he should just file a complaint with the dealer, and move on. He doesn't even list the name of the dealership, so others can be wary.

All anyone has to do is mark the oil filter and know what fresh oil looks like. Then take some time to alert some concerns to the dealership when it is obvious it didn't get done. It's a pain in the butt but I guarantee a dealership that's worth a crap will want to know what's going on. Especially if they have a manager that lies to a customer.

Dealerships need quality assurance/quality control measures and a great source for this is to let them know about everything that's wrong.

Since people can hold on to most new cars nowadays for 10 years or more, it makes sense to make your existing customers happy. They will most likely be willing to trade up every couple of years.

I believe OP's story. It's not surprising in some ways because of the way people in the general public can be nowadays. This stuff can happen anywhere you take a car.

It is gratifying to work on your own car though.

If what happened to OP happened to me I'd be blowin' it up on Yelp and naming names. And I'd be tempted to put an alert on car forums.

Except for my first oil change from the dealer I have been using a Toyo filter and Amsoil in my 16 Tacoma. I really can't see my dealership screwing with my oil change but I just prefer the higher- quality oil. I believe and have been brought up on the thoughts that changing oil is your life line to having a happy engine. If you drive local or hundreds of miles a week ya gotta change the Oil.

Sorry ya got screwed with... glad you checked and found the attempt at BS'n you...

Should I feel bad or weird about this following situation:

I had to replace my wife's car this week so we got her an Escape. The first dealership we went to ar around 6:00pm. We walked around the lot and it was one of these low pressure places where salespeople are not waiting outside like vultures. We're there for about 20 minutes and a saleslady approached us. I told her what we were looking for and indicated this was our first place to visit and we planned on going to another dealership after this visit.

The car I came for she referred to as an ad car and that "every dealership has the ad car" and then kept steering us to the high trim level we didn't want. She essentially shut down the conversation before I told her which specific car we wanted to look at. She seemed low energy and didn't seem enthused to let us test drive anything. I got a weird feeling about her, like she's either new or she's not a people person.

We ended up taking her card and I gave her my cell #, because you never know when you walk away a deal could come my way later.

When we got home around 9:00pm I searched the website and the car I wanted to see was reduced in price by another $3k. The total discounts amounted to $8k. I ended up clicking the "see what the internet price is" button.

I got an e-mail from the internet sales person and I called her. I was asked if I had been working with another dealer and I told her the sales lady's name...but I also indicated that something wasn't right, like the chemistry wasn't there. She said "well it's because she's internet sales and she's new". Then she got me in contact with another salesman.

I was up front when I met with the assigned sales guy that I had talked initially to another sales lady but it was awkward. I felt like he should know that I at least talked to her. He indicated like it was no big deal.

I ended up buying the car. My wife asked if it was with that first sales lady and I told her the story. It seemed to bother her a bit and the more I think about it, it bothers me a little too.

The lady called to see if I had bought a car yet and I'm not sure how to handle it. I do feel a little bad for her but it's not my place to have to tell her I didn't feel comfortable dealing with her.

Maybe I should tell the sales guy I worked with to take care of the situation. I'm probably making too much of this but this sales lady really was odd.

    What do you all think?

I think you got the car you wanted for the price you wanted. I also think that nature will take care of the rest. If she sucks at her job, she'll soon realize it and either get better or get fired.

Actions have consequences and hopefully the first saleswoman figures it out.

They have a boat load of 1 STAR ratings via Google. I do realize that google ratings are sometimes biased - one way or the other - but I saw enough to know I would never buy from this dealership. I don't mention service because no one works on my vehicles - except me.

I've had good luck with their sales department . Actually I hadn't had any problems with service until now.

You're fine. It was her job to listen to you and what YOU wanted. To play off your desire as an "ad car" and immediately steer you elsewhere is a shady bait and switch tactic. She deserved to lose the sale.

That was my take on this as well. I'm sure salespeople figure out there are different types of customers and they know how to adjust accordingly...at least the ones that are good and have been in it for awhile.

I'm definantly not the "I'm looking for my dream car" customer. I was more like "I'm looking for a deal on this car or I'm gonna find a gently used one somewhere else." I always make sure I'm loaded for bear but I'm not rude about.

I at least came back the next day to that dealership.

I'd love to know how much it costs to make a car from begining to end. I'm sure that's all corporate secret stuff.
