I spent the past few weeks riding everything I had even the slightest interest.. Ended up ordering a 2017 Desert Sled. Top Three?

1. Desert Sled
2. Hypermotard SP
3. Monster 821

Ride everything you are considering, think about how you are ACTUALLY going to use it. I could only stay on the speed triple for about 5 minutes before my legs went numb. Not that it was particularly uncomfortable it was just an angle that aggravated some injuries from an accident I was in last year.

 

Going on a full week without the bike, kinda bummed I don't get to see the little monster every morning before work

 

Put a Big Bore kit on my bike yesterday. Going for its first test run today, staying under half throttle for the first 100 miles is going to suck!

 

Gotta get those rings to seat. Just wind it out gently through the gears. Thats a proper break in

 

Go through all the gears slowly you mean? I was into 4th yesterday but just low rpms

 

I thought they were decent looking. Definitely in the same market as the FZ-09. Also could consider the Z800?

At the dealer thats closing, the Z800s were like $6k. Thats a bunch cheaper than the FZ09.

Nice bike, but terrible color. We got screwed in the US for FZ colors.

I think the highlighter yellow is god awful. Its absolutely disgusting

 

I agree, that red looks awful on the FZ for some reason. I'm not a huge fan of the highlighter yellow but I think it does work in conjunction with the concrete gray.

You've seen the highlighter yellow in person, right? Because it looks terrible in 90% of pictures haha

Yeah, the highlighter yellow is a unique color. But out of the 3 options it was my favorite. Some days I liked the silver/blurple scheme and other days I couldn't stand the blurple accents depending on the lighting. And the all black is just boring.

 

Highlighter is way worse in person. Can't stand it. Especially with all the adventure bike guys at this demo day in full hiviz. I want nothing to do with that life.

 

Did about 30 miles of trails this morning. Felt great to get back on the dual sport, but holy arm pump. Gonna be sore tomorrow.

Lost the nut/bolt that holds the muffler on, so it's currently hanging off the header. Lost the stock muffler cover somewhere along the trail too.

I definitely need some new tires too. These stock ones were as bad as I remember. Had to turn around and go a different route at one point because the back would just spin.

motoz tractionators desert h/t is my next set of tires. These t-63 from Michelin are still surprisingly amazing in the gravel

 

Got bored this morning and fix the fender that has been bugging me ever since i bought the bike
