I know you go hunting alot. What I do is keep all my deer scraps, cut them down after a hard cook in oven , easier to cut. Then into the dehydrator overnight. Break them into quarter size pieces and the dogs will sell their soul for one.

    That's a good idea. I'll give it a try.

You have a good heart. You gave him a good second life. This is the reason I adopted an adult dog. I know his previous owners weren't kind to him. Now he gets nothing but love and affection, as it should be for our canine friends.

Went to Harbor Freight today to pick up some items and came out with a little something extra.

I passed a man walking around inside the store holding a puppy. I said "Hey, little doggy." The man turned and asked if I'd be interested in buying him.

We chatted while I checked the pup for obvious signs of parasites, injury, or sickness. He looked okay, but was clearly under weight and seemed lethargic.

The man said he and his wife couldn't afford to take care of him anymore. I know now that wasn't the truth. Regardless, the puppy needed some attention, so I gladly gave the guy $50 and brought the pup home. He needed the money more than I did and the puppy needed to be in better hands.

Got home and gave him some water. He was obviously thirsty. Gave him a little bit of all-natural "Thanksgiving Feast" canned food, which he eagerly inhaled. Gave him a bath and introduced him to my pack. He immediately came out of his shell.

After seeing what was in his stool (gravel, a piece of foam), I believe this dog was either homeless or tied up and neglected. Not anymore.

    Welcome home, "Lucky."

I believe that. It's not every day something like this happens. You're a good man Jason.

I believe it too. What is funny is how different he is now from when I saw him in the store. He was very timid, not really wanting to interact, with his tail between his legs. I think he was mostly tired from walking and not being able to drink or eat real food. After I fed him and cleaned him up, he started to act like a normal puppy. He climbed up in my lap a few times to take a nap. Sometimes he'd put his front paws on my shoulders and lick my face. I like to think he's saying thank you.

EDIT: This is the pack at the moment. A lot of playing today.

You're a good person for giving a deserving dog a second chance at a great life. It's heart warming read so many stories of people rescuing mature pups.
