Last thing I need to hear in my Tacoma is another beep, "audible alarm," every time I turn it on. You may want to re-think this.

Sounds intriguing. It will be interesting to read the first few threads of folks using this product.

Clever idea. Love my 2017 generally, but definitely disappointed a little with it. My previous was a 2007 4cyl PreRunner SR5 (manual). I went with the V6 Auto because I wanted better acceleration than the previous.

Question: Have you thought about enabling this through the ECT switch and leaving S so users can still shift manually? (Perhaps the Toyota code won't permit it?). Engage your device by hitting ECT, but pass the message to the computer that it is in 'S' Mode and run your code. Then if the user selects 'S', on the stick, disable your code and pass the original message to the computer. Would probably need a harness to connect it all up, but I don't see a reason that wouldn't work? You could probably retire with that one.....:oldglory:

I'm guessing that's the only way to make this work without modifying original components and software. The S-mode allows user input via the shift lever, and this device probably acts as the "user."

Yeah, +1 on this one. Not a fan of the audible idea. But I figure that if it gets too annoying, I'll open the device up and de-solder the speaker.

This sounds like pretty good news. I'll think I'll wait for a few of the members to report after they've installed this device. Does the plug under the shift console just plug into an empty plug or does it need to tap into one of the existing wires?

Ah - didn't see the S+/- override in this thread. Clever. I guess my thinking was to keep it a bit more 'stock' and let the S mode override his controller. So you'd have 3 shift modes: (1: Normal Crappy Mode, 2: ECT with his code, 3: When S is selected - it overrides Normal and His controller. So the 'Safety' feature would be either turning off ECT or selecting S mode. Same principle.... just a slightly different execution. Kudos to him for giving it a go with this. Personally I wish someone would open the code to the computer and develop an easy interface that would allow users to adjust shift points (within safety parameters)....probably a pipe dream though

I haven't seen the instructions, so I'm taking a guess, but I figure there will be three connectors on this thing. One will plug into the OBD2 port. The two other ones will allow the device to be connected inline with the OEM connector for the shift lever. So the original connection would be disconnected, and both resulting connectors would be plugged into this device.

I was hoping you'd go commercial with this. Any chance you could make the beeping user defeatable? Once the wife and kids are asleep I try very hard not to wake them up. ;)

I just posted a very low resolution version of the installation instructions. The higher-quality version will be uploaded overnight tonight and available tomorrow.
