Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Been a rough couple weeks and recently had to have an angiogram procedure on my dialysis access arm due to a blood clot that caused my arm to bleed out for 6 hours after treatment last week. Hoping to get some answers soon on my heart pains and palpitations that are occurring daily now. Used to be a couple times a month, but for some reason my ticker is sending me some kind of message randomly everyday. Guess no strip clubs in my near future.

This is fucking ridiculous... There are people dying everyday (unfortunately, some deserve it too) and you can't find another donor in less than 3 days? I hate how this is a money fueled fucking economy. A donor, be it drug/alcohol user or both should not be a denied candidate, kidneys when needed (in your case) shouldn't be lead through a rigorous screening other than compatibility.

yah it's pretty crazy, but the transplant center wants to be 100% sure the donor won't be compromised with the missing kidney... what's even more crazy is that the donor is automatically deemed pre-existing condition after transplant since they are considered "incomplete"...

yep... donor has to go through psych screening and even financial screening... it's a whole lot of hoops to jump through...

In my region they scale cadaver donor kidney to 100% with 85% to 100% being high risk as they would come from a known drug user and the like. Older recipients and others that are in an advanced terminal condition are encouraged to consider accepting them.

For a live donor they go by blood and tissue type as well as concern for the donors future health. Age used to be an issue here but it's not considered as much if quality of life isn't affected. Crazy how things differentiate from region to region.

Still wish your situation was different and you could come to St. Louis as you'd be able to be on three lists simultaneously.

Yah they do the scaling here at UCLA too. I tried in Nevada but they won't take me because of my heart condition.

This is the ultimate "WTB" thread!

@mikesdoublecab I'm a little late to this thread. Somehow I missed it this all these months. I wish you nothing but the best of luck.

My wife and I are both organ and tissue donors. I encourage everyone to become a donor. In most states it's a simple matter of checking "yes" when you renew your driver's license.

Of course, I realize you're ideally looking for a live donor. Stay :muscleflexing:

Hey all. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for reaching out and helping me out the past 22 months on dialysis.

UCLA transplant coordinator called me today and pending final approval from the cardiologist, it looks like I will be getting my new kidney in 6 weeks!!!

About 25 people inquired, and 10 went through testing. The 10th donor passed all the tests and it looks like we are one step closer to the end game.
