I'd love to have a restomodded woody wagon! Keep it externally stock like in your picture, but add a modern drivetrain, power steering, power brakes, air-conditioning, and a killer sound system!

I'm a purist. I might update the brakes, but I'd keep the vintage driveline and manual steering. My '69 still has manual brakes and steering, and I honestly have no aspirations to modify them. :notsure:

Definitely the brakes, front disc at a minimum...

And I'd put air-conditioning in a woody so I can bring my future family to car shows in comfort. I know someone whose friend discreetly added air-conditioning and power steering to a 1934 Rolls-Royce.

Meh. Properly maintained manual brakes work just fine. Mine's got drums at all four corners, with no power assist as mentioned, but if I stomp on the pedal I can still lock them up pretty easily.

At least until you have to make a sudden stop in the snow. My friend's 1974 Ford F100 has manual steering and manual brakes (front disc/rear drum). On top of that it also has an open differential. Translation: Driving in the snow is entertaining to say the least.

Compare to my Tacoma, which not only has power steering, power brakes, ABS, and traction control, but the added benefit of a fake but useful automatic LSD.

    My 1969 doesn't go out in the snow, so that's a non-issue.
On the other hand, my '84 work/plow truck doesn't have ABS, traction control, or an LSD but I don't have any problems controlling that in the snow. :notsure:
