Yeah, i've been thinking about selling the Tacoma for months. Just need something with a bigger rear seat, and I am no longer hauling the bikes around. I counted in one hand how many times I used my truck as a truck. I still love the Tacoma though. Best mid size truck period.

You must think i'm selling the Tacoma because of the recall - not the case at all. I was actually prepping it for sale when the recall came up. The recall kept me from selling the truck when I wanted, and was just a general pain in the ass. Anyways, the car i'm buying is not affected.

Same year and model as mine, 19k miles. They gave me a rav4. Not thrilled but as you stated, less miles on the truck. Hope you get your fix asap.

Was getting ready to do first Oil change, and change rearend fluid over to syn. brought a transmission cooler which i was going to install and change transmission over to syn also because in traffic trans. at times has hit 190. I am point now of being to scared to change anything on the truck. Just my thoughts....

I'm a noob here, learning as I go about this diff and that diff, keep a watch on yours, I've seen several mileage posts here at TW in the 20-30k range for leaky diffs.

Well, mine has at least two seeps. There's one on the other side as well. Close to 24k on the odo. Not taking it in until the 25k service which should be towards the end of the month or into early June. I'm going to keep an eye on it.

The dealer called me yesterday saying they'll need to keep it till Monday and they heard the howl but couldnt see the leak.:annoyed: I asked them if they looked for the leak right after driving in the rain, because you know, wet spots would be harder to find, but of course he's a middle man and doesn't know. I emailed him the pictures of the leaky diff I took before dropping it off and told em they'll need to open a ticket with corporate to get direction since I'm not technically on the recall list. I guess I'll hold their hand if it means I get my truck fixed.

This was the first time I haven't dealt directly with the service manager since mile 300. Sounds like I am about to be dealing with him again.

At least I have a 4runner loaner. The joys of Tacoma ownership. #letsgoplaces

I wouldn't touch a thing on this truck.

As an aside: I'm pretty sure the fluids are all already synthetic.

I wish I had done this. I'm having regrets on taking my Tacoma in yesterday. If it was really unsafe to drive now, you'd think they wouldn't be waiting until June to send out the recall notices. I have two small seeps like you do. It doesn't sound like they have a fix protocol in place right now, so all I accomplished was getting my truck confiscated.

Any insiders have a rough estimate of when confiscated trucks will get fixed?

A week or two? I mean are we talking like more than a month? If so, this will definitely affect our summer plans.

Sure, recalls are very common but typically you just drop in and they fix it at that time, right?

Typically, but the official recall notices haven't gone out (I think. I haven't got one but my vin is in the recall list.). They have to stock up on the parts first at the dealership. Supposedly they inspect things at the service intervals. They didn't say anything about it when I went in for the 20k.

Damn... I should have waited for the recall notice. Anyone take their loaner back and just took their Tacoma?

Wow!! Just had the 25K service done on mine and the recall. Mine's still black and shiney. Yours looks really beat up. Do you live in a bad winter area??

If I were you, I would just go in for the recall in June or July, or whenever they have their parts and protocol in place.

LOL, not at all.. Live near Fredericksburg, VA. We had a very mild winter. I will admit that I don't wash the chassis except when it goes through the touchless wash and the underneath sprayers turn on...

An extra 50 cents of coating at the factory would prevent that. Unbelievable how low they will go to save a few dollars.
