I browsed through some of the 117 pages of this thread, but does anyone have the Grey softopper on an Magnetic Grey Gen 3? I'm about to put in my order and I was considering something other than black this time around.

I have a question. I've had my best top softopper for a while. I'm having trouble with the velcro staying attached next to the cab of the truck. Anyone have this issue and how did you fix it? Should u replace the velcro on the softopper. It's becoming a nuisance as I have to stop frequently to fix it so it doesn't flap against the cab.

on my '14 I put the velcro strip on the tiedown rail on the front of the bed. After 2 years it is only just starting to pull up a little at the ends. One thing to keep in mind is that the adhesive needs a day or so to fully set up after you put the velcro down. If you try to separate the velcro too soon it will pull the adhesive up and will likely never stick well.

For the Gen 3.... IDK yet. When I get mine I'll figure it out. If I have to I'll install the snaps, but I would rather not drill the bed.

My problem is the velcro staying together. The one side of the velcro is attached to the bed and the other side is attached to the softopper.

Sorry, I missed the Bestop part.... I had one for exactly 1 day and returned it. I don't remember how the front window mounted, but I was not happy with the fitment and the obvious separating seams and returned it for a softopper.

If the problem you have is not with the adhesive, just the velcro not being strong enough I'm not sure of any solution other than better velcro or some other mechanical fastener. I seem to remember seeing here somewhere that someone used paracord and some eyelets to lash the flap down to the front of the bed.

After my ordeal with the Bestop, the Softopper came out as the winner by a mile. Anyone that has a Bestop and loves it, good for them, but I was not impressed. My Softopper has been fantastic for the past 50K miles and I am going to be getting one for my new truck.

Shameless plug, I'm selling my 2nd Gen LB Softopper including the KBvoodoo rails and tailgate cap if anyone is looking for one.

Would buy them and rails if I didn't have one and a SB.

I had a bestop too but for my needs the window rolling up makes it way more useable for me than my bestop was, since I hang a bike out the back

I added a 4' piece of flat stock across the top the rail and 3 clamps then sandwiched the velcro flap between the rail and the flat stock and clamped it in place. Beats the hell outta some velcro.

I can get pics if needed.

Now that sounds like a great idea. Pic(s) would be great. I can now only get about 25 highway miles before having to fix the velcro.

Softtopper owners: How has your experience been from purchasing through Softtopper directly? I have a wet, 2000 mile road trip coming up this Thursday evening, and would like to know if they would be able to ship to San Diego by then. I've already called and left a message to no avail.

Also, shoot me a message if anyone is planning get rid of their black Softtopper for a 2nd gen double cab short bed! Thanks

I wish I had known when ordering mine they hadn't redisgned it to the 3rd gen. I would have not ordered it and gone with the softopper brand. With that said I still like my Bestop but I wish I had gotten softopper now. There's a few spots where water can get in, and I can't get the tailgate closed properly at times.

Definitely need more pictures and a write up of the install. This is going to be one of my projects hopefully before SPI meet. Along with a sleeping platform

Better shots of the lights, how you wired everything, is it wired to a switch? Can we see pictures of it? You posted up a few pictures and a small write which is the equivalent of being stranded in the desert with no water and a priest sprinkles holy water on you. You know you want the goods but God's just messing with you.
