I'm looking at this tablet for using with aprs on my ham.
$70 at my local Best Buy ....
WILL IT WORK ?

As long as it has a GPS chip and is an android you're good.

If it's windows. Gets a bit more complex but still do able.

My radio has built in gps , Yeasue 400FTM

 

I don't see gps listed , I have a satellite reciever for gps that I pair with my non gps devises via wifi / bluetooth

It is Android marsmello 6.0

Do I really need the gps ? Like I said , my radio has it built in , and I have the receiver .
Currently I use the sat receiver on my iPad , it shows me my location on my pre- downloaded maps.

I've been to a local ham club ,no luck, and today went to a ham fest/flea market , asked a few people about aprs .... no one was into it nor using it
I'm new to this .... but I will figure it all out with a little help from TW friends !!

This is the reciever I have for non gps devices.

You have 2 ways to run APRS on your rig. You can do it directly to a TNC from your radio. Or do the tablet which will show you maps and stuff.





Well we caved. Didn't want to weather the constant rain that started. Oh well. Still got a campfire dinner. And we got to explore this sweet cave! goes over a mile down. We didn't go that far, but still was super cool to scramble down into the cave though! Took a bad ass photo. Working on it now

And cave time. This cave was opened to the public since the late 60s. Many a vandal has been through here..but it is still super cool

^^ Pretty cool to explore back in there. It goes on a pretty good ways. Not my cup of tea though, I prefer to see the views and not be claustrophobic the whole time.

Jason just cycled 14.25'' on his stock leaf hangers with custom deavers and shock hoops. Likely be 12-13'' when all said and done..but it is worth noting that you can get that kinda travel with SOA setup. A SUA setup has other pros though but again...depends on what you want.
