    Tacomaworld,

Im currently leasing a 2016 TRD sport access cab, but due to the upcoming arrival of a newborn, I need something bigger! (Same truck just double cab)... my issue is that I still have a few more years left on my current lease.

Does anyone have experience in trading in a lease for a lease on essentially the same truck just the double cab version?

What would you guys do in this situation?

    Thanks!

Have your salesperson get a hold of Toyota financial and get your payoff. You can do it yourself if you like. Then find out from 2-3 dealerships what they'll buy your lease outright for. You'll be surprised what your Tacoma might be worth. I'm not saying you'll have equity but you might be pretty close assuming the miles and condition are reasonable.
If you were leasing a Camry, Avalon or Corolla you'd still be flipped by quite a bit but a Tacoma is quite different.

you can also check the tfs website for your lease payoff.

It's the same amount of pain as trading in a vehicle that you owe on the loan. What it's worth minus payoff amount plus cost of new vehicle.

FWIW, using kbb "trade-in" value and my lease payoff, I've had positive equity since the day I drove off the lot on a $0 down lease. Not much, usually about $50-250, but it's about where I'm confident that I could pull the rip cord without much pain whenever.

That's all I really do anymore is lease. I enjoy trying out new vehicles every few years. I have gotten out of leases early quite a few times and usually you have to come up with some cash. Not always but sometimes. The earlier you terminate your lease the more likely you are going to supplement it with cash. I would drive your truck as long and you can to get that payoff amount down and to save up so you have some cash to play with.

I have in the past swapped leases. As long as the newly leased vehicle is worth more than your current lease you should have no issues with swapping for a double cab. I had a ford Escape, and had a year remaining on my lease when I swapped out for an F150, didnt have to pay a dime. (mind you that was with Ford). as mentioned above, your best bet would be to go and speak with the finance manager at your dealership. They are always looking for someone to re-up a contract :)

    Yes!
You'd figure a dealership would want to re-up on a contract. I'll talk to the finance managers to see what they can do for me.
