People are unbelievable. A friend of mine called me in the fall and told me that he saw an 8hp outboard motor with a free sign on it. So snags it for me and Forces me to pick it up. Started fine didn't make water. So I check the impeller and it's a bit worn out so I order a new one $5. Put it in still no water, put the air hose into the discharge and drop 150psi into it. Runs perfectly fine but some sand came out.

It looks like someone beached their dingy and sucked up some sand... so they bought a new motor. And gave away a motor and fuel tank worth $500-$800. It took me $5 and 20 minutes to have it running great again. Just in time for my new dingy so I have the old one for Sandy Neck now.

It was so easy of an issue it's guilt really.

 

Nice! Some people just aren't willing to take the time to learn how to fix their own stuff. I had a similar situation with my lawn mower. My father in law gave it to me, not running, and he had already bought a new one. He ran it for one season and it wouldn't run when he brought it out of winter storage. Took a few bucks and about 30 minutes of work and it's been running great ever since. He told me, it cost me about the same to buy a new one as it would have cost me to have a mechanic fix it. He's probably right about that last bit but if he took a few minutes to even google the issue, he could have had it running for next to nothing.

So much want these C/Os as 2nd set to swap out for rebuilds!!!

 

That plus society has been conditioned to replace instead of repair. In fairness some of the crap nowadays makes that more attractive too

 

Hahaha, I just stole a boat a few weeks ago and can almost beat that. It was listed in rough shape, may need new engine. 18' Aluminum with a 4cyl I/O Volvo Penta. Guy said it was working great when he used it last and then it just died. I took a chance on it and took it away for less than scrap value or what I thought I could get for the trailer alone. Got it home and in looking it over decided to check the dwell (points ignition) and it was way off. Simple, 3 minute adjustment and look who's trolling big water now! Unbelieveable.

 

I reserved a bay at in Salem NH for Saturday. Gonna tackle the driver's side diff bearing, and try to get my camber/caster cams unstuck, along with full fluid changes (both diffs, transfer case, transmission, oil, power steering). Since I've got the access to the lift for a day and need to drive home afterward, I'm going to focus on getting the front end squared away. The fluids can all be done in my driveway, so except the front diff, they're all "would like to get done" tasks. I wish there were more places like this around. @mach1man001 can you imagine how much easier installing those lifts would be if you could put the whole truck up in the air and work.

 

Ask @DrFunker or @Unchained 5150 since I put in both of their lifts. Also did some work to @Boston10Taco truck

 

Have @tacobell007 do it brother. He did all my work, and I stand by it.

 

OMG yes. I have a friend that HAD a lift in his garage (John's @johnnym been there) that I used to be able to use but he sold that house and built a new one. He has yet to build a working garage in the new house yet though

Here we are installing a OME lift in a buddys '10 Tundra. We did his whole lift and all of his fluids that day

I know, I'm just saying we have the tools for the ECGS bushing and have done about 10 installs for this bushing.

 

Oh I know. No big deal. I have only done the bushing once. Luckily mine doesn't make any noise

 

Yes, Drew did mine too. Planning to go back for other stuff, because I just couldn't get enough the first time.

I would highly recommend. Was very comfortable there. Drew (and Levi) were great!
Can't say enough good about Drew.
