Solid gear size choice

 

Thats my plan eventually.

 

Do they make 4.56 gears for third gens?

 

So guys. To help your speculation, it may not be ring and pinion. We are leaning towards spider gear. I was going up an obstacle in 4 low and had a bad knock when I began to spin in the rear. Immediately thought rear diff. It didn't continue though as I rolled forward. It happened about 4 times till I stopped driving and we had to make a decision. I didn't drive it to the edge of top of the world. I did however drive it the entire way back to moab. Of course all auto parts places are closed now.

 

I get knocks in the rear only under load in turns. Or when the rear tires are spinning at different speeds. Only accelerating on straights sucked ass coming back.

 

You have anywhere to open it and find out? And some fluid to fill it back up with? Definitely don't wanna damage it more

 

Yeah we have the capabilities. But no stores open.

 

Dang man that sucks, guess you'll just have to wait until morning. Think it could end your trip early?

 

No way. If I have to put it in a shop I'll ride passenger. But if it's spider gear we can fix it if store opens and can get one

 

Would suck to ride passenger after building that nice truck

@stronghammer you wished for a locking diff yet?

 

Yeah that would keep both wheel turning at the same speed so problem solved... Anyone got a welder out there? Lock that sucker up in a hurry

 

He couldn't just leave it on the whole time, that'd be terrible for his diff lol

 

If it was welded he would have no choice #driftacoma

 

That'd be a fun drive home

 

If he was getting 4.56 gears and a new spider gear anyways..

 

Might as well get the front then too, im pickin up what ur puttin down
