Does anyone know if there is a company out there that makes billet a.c. knobs. Also while I'm asking maybe even a compact that makes gen 1 grab handles

I'm surprised no one wants billet or cares

Take a pic of which ones you're talking about. I've seen radio knobs get swapped out with guitar knobs, but it's all about what ones you need :)

Replacing the radio knobs with guitar knobs is a genius idea. I feel like it would look awful on some head units though.

There's a large variety out there. You could get metal ones in different colors, skulls, amp knobs, etc as long as they fit or you can make them fit - I think I saw it the first time in the second gen forum. I play guitar so I've seen a lot of kinds of knobs... wait, that didn't sound good

I would like to replace the a.c. control knobs. I replaced the ones in my fj with Ellis precision billet knobs, but I was wondering if there is anything like that for first gen.

We are contemplating making Tacoma billet knobs but would need to see that there is enough interest. The FJ ones took a lot of research and development to get right, but we ended up with a perfect factory fit using OEM hardware... something I don't think any other billet accessory manufacturers have pulled off.

How much would a set cost approximately? Would the sliding handles be included?

My 08 uses all rotary knobs and buttons for HVAC, but my first gen has sliders for fan speed and something else I think - at least one slider.

Ohhhhh I totally forgot. My 98 had them too. My bad. I actually like them more than the round knobs my 01 has. The slider ones could come off and right back on with no problem. 01-04 has the round ones but they have a metal (gasket type thing?) that often gets bent if you take them off, so you have to buy new knobs.
