Cool, thanks for the feedback. I forgot that Mammoth did DH as well. I've also heard really good things about Downieville for riding.

Does Squaw run the lifts for DH riding in the summer? I didnt think they did...

That is a sexy bike! You have a weight on it?

I beleive that Northstar and Mammoth are the only Sierra resorts that offer summer lifts for bikes.

Nice truck and bikes! how you liking the Best of the East so far?

I picked up the same bike last spring and am loving it. Upgraded the brakes to Sram Guide RSC, and threw on some Maxis Minon DHF/DHRs in 2.8 a few weeks back. Still early, but i think i like the slightly smaller tire (compared to the 3.0) for aggressive riding. Slightly less "un-damped suspension" from the reduced volume and seems a bit more stable when railing the corners.

You settle of a tire pressure? I'm 180 lbs, and was running 15/16 (front/rear) with the 3.0s. I went up a little higher with the 2.8s due to less volume = 16/17.

I have some parts coming in to set up some permanent mounts under the bulkhead bar. I snagged the front utilirail off my Gen-2 taco before I traded her in so I could install it on my Gen 3 (sneaky bastard, aren't I). Should work out nicely. I'll share once done.

Hey man, Don't know if you'll run into this problem but... I just added the utilirail to my 3rd gen and put on a Rockymounts Drive Shaft fork mount (https://rockymounts.com/collections/racks-and-accessories/products/driveshaft-track). The bulkhead bar overhung the utilirail by about 1/2" which made it impossible to mount the bike mount plumb (the top would be pushed out by the bulkhead). Once I took the screws out to mount the rail I realized that the bulkhead bar flange is not centered on the bar so I just flipped the bulkhead around which made it hang over more towards the cab and less inside the bed. It worked perfectly and now has enough clearance for the mount to be plumb and flip open fully.

I haven't tried the plus thing yet. They seem to becoming more popular/common, maybe I'll have to give one a spin to see for myself.

Yea he went that route because he is not as comfortable in the fast downhill and cornering.

The bike is great and super fun. I bombs down hills faster than my 29er ever did with only a slight penalty on the climbs. I liked the 27.5+ enough that almost immediately I went out and ordered another plus bike to have two.

I kept the WTB tires and they work well around here. I am running tubeless but I am a fatty at 6'3" and over 200#, so I run in the 17-20 psi range. 20 is too much, but it rolls fast around here. I plan to progressively drop the pressure as I get lighter.

Awesome man. Glad to hear you are enjoying it. I definitely think there is a time and a place for the plus size tire where the lower psi and bigger contact patch really add some benefits not to mention comfort. Other times when getting really aggressive it can get a little sketchy at times. Was out a few weeks back and hit a modest 4-5' drop that sent me a ways down the trail and the landing was off camber enough where the whole tire rolled over the rim and almost tossed me over the bars. I've found it's something where you can adjust your riding style to extract the benefits.

Def the right approach to slowly drop the pressure. When I first got my BotE I was over 200lbs, so dropping pressure was necessary, however.. my riding also got more aggressive, so ended up raising it back up after a while.
