    So I'm looking at replacing my old thermostat for my 2007 TRD Sport when I end up doing a coolant change which should be pretty soon. Most likely will also get new rad hoses and rad cap.

    Anyway after talking with Toyota dealer ships in the Vancouver, Canada area.
    Seems like 100$+ is the price for a new thermostat.

    I see rockauto sells them for different brands ranging from 30-35$. That's not including taxes or the 3$ it costs for me to use a parcel place just across the border. Probably cost me 45$~ after all that.

    Anyway just wondering if people think its worth getting the OEM thermostat or are some of these brands like Aisin, Gates just as good?

    I'm considering getting the rad hoses and rad cap from rockauto as well.

    The lasts few I have installed I got at Toyota The After Market ones look really cheap.

    Antifreeze is cheap if I doing something I just go with Toyota and Have it sitting on the shelf

    Yeah for something that should last at least a few years I don't mind spending a extra few bucks, especially if its better for the truck. I just don't like it when dealers charge ridiculous amounts for things so not sure if a thermostat would be one of them.

    Toyota sells the thermostat for the 4.0 Tacos with the inlet. # 16031 at the bottom of the page.

    Yes, it's an integrated assembly--you cannot buy "just" the thermostat...

    Yea I learned theres a housing with it and whatnot, thanks for confirming that though.

    Its ridiculous how much dealers charge for some things. I called 3 different dealers and the prices before tax were 89$, 99$, and 104$.

    Guess I'll just order it all off rockauto.

    Anyone have better luck on other websites? Rockauto seems to have the best prices on most things from what I've seen.

    Just watch the shipping on Rock Auto because items are pulled from different locations it can get expensive if things come from several different places

    $0.02 don't bother with toyota parts, napas is great.
    If you do this make sure to get new gaskets/silicone, felpro is very good.
    Personally I would not replace hoses unless you see them starting to crack, not bad to make sure all hose clamps are tight though.
    For antifreeze the napa stuff is just as good as peak imho, at my shop we switch between napa or autozone extended life depending on which is on sale.
    I would replace the belt since you have to remove it anyways, bando or dayco

    I almost paid $$$ for one... then did a search and an Amazon link came up for the factory thermostat and plastic black housing for a 2006 v6 4x4 trd off road. I’m hoping the one I bought is the right one. Here’s the link

    The seal between the thermostat and housing started leaking this weekend. I plan to pull it off, inspect and order a new one if necessary. Is it harder than clamping the hose, removing hose, remove bolts, pull thermostat and seal, install new thermostat with new seal, install in revers order and top with coolant? Just curious if I should expect anything more.

    Aisin is the company that Toyota uses, Well Toyota actually owns Aisin. Order it from rockauto its a lot cheaper and is the same exact one you will get from the dealership. Same as the water pump. Only difference is that if it has a Toyota logo on it, it will be removed ground off because its not from a dealer.
