You know what's awesome? When your work schedules you for a 5AM shift but then no one else shows up to even let you in the building.

No shit. If our group, we'll over several hundred employees, has a perfect safety record for a quarter we might have a cook out. Which means if you come by on a train they'll give you some food. Could be 1am, 12p or 7p. Never know so you might get a steak at 4am. They're starting to cut costs though. From steaks to hotdogs to, I shit you not, fried bologna sandwich!

 

Wow man. Times are tough. Bet your CEO and board got a fucking raise last year though.

 

Don't get me started. As an engineer we can get up to a 10% if we hit certain numbers set by upper management. Only got 33% of that 10 last year. Guess who got their full bonus and stock? Upper got theirs even though they didn't run the company well enough for us to get ours. Newly appointed ceo got a 30ish% pay raise

 

I have to reserve myself a bit because I'm a realist and I will admit I do not know what all goes into being a successful CEO, duties and responsibilities and such. So I can't just blindly say they get all this for doing nothing.

BUT. I can comfortably say that if I was a CEO, and they told me I could bump my pay by 30%, my first question would be: "What are our employees getting?" And if it's less than 30%, my ass will take an inflation percentage as the merit increase of COL as per usual, then send the rest of my shit off to be distributed. Doesn't matter if it's $0.10 a person. I would sleep better that night.

 

I'm not smart enough to be a ceo nor did I work hard enough when I was younger to afford the chance to be further up the corporate ladder. That being said it is amazing how the railroad works. Did pay for my truck though

 

There are plenty of CEOs that I have met (one being a former employer) that astounded me with their sheer stupidity and ignorance of good business practice.

 

I'm sure. Lower management is complete stupidity. Upper comes from the bottom
