Shouldn't be too hard. I will need an extra short length of hose for each wheel. If the solenoid fails it is designed to fail open. If I must remove it it will screw out and you take the short length of hose with you. Then you replace the hose you removed. I already have a set of extended lines, now I just need a set that has a male to a male fitting.

The front is no place for the solenoid though. I'd have to follow the hard line back or plan to cut into it.

    You bet!

So, you have calibrated your HF torque wrench? Since I always click, nudge go back and click I know that if I were within 2lbs I'd be surprised.
You got to admit you can't beat them for 10$ on sale.

Hate is a strong word, and its not something i do much of.

I'm with others, if you want a locker 'sometimes' get and ARB or Harrop. unlock, engage front locker, lock rear wheel on the direction you want to turn and let the front eat, and drag you around as the unlocked rear helps push. Have spares, you'll need 'em.

cutting brakes are great in the desert at speed, awesome to pitch your ride sideways as desired

A line lock does not make pressure, it only holds it. You will still have to step on brake pedal, actuate and hold solenoid on to lock THAT wheel or wheels you desire to hold. ( in a drag racing application the line lock is mounted right off the master cyl to the line that feeds front brakes, one solenoid)

Where as an actual CUTTING or JAMAR brake has an inline secondary passive master cyl that pushes fluid pressure when lever is moved and can be modulated by lever movement. (old school V-dubs used parking brake cable mounted lever, pulling each cable individually. Lots of fun in a Meyers Manx on gravel roads :D, park rangers have little humor.... and even less authority at the time)

The Tacoma has 4channel ABS, meaning there is a separate line going to each wheel from the ABS controller (unless you have VSC then its 4 lines from brake master and a whole other snake pit)

you'll need to disable ABS to make what you want to work, but at that, i think you'll find it wont work as well as you like, part of this is due to wheel base and turn radius,

Using the ABS controller to lock up the wheel might work, but it'll pulse while doing it and be rather short term.

if you have intentions of using said line lock solenoids as a parking brake or hill hold, not a good idea, those solenoids tend to get hot and suck power, or drop out and fail. if you're looking for a "parking" type brake, look into a "MICO" lock, which is a mechanically lever actuated "line lock" but even that will not pass DMV inspection as it is not a passive single action mechanical brake actuation. A MICO lock still requires line pressure prior to activation

you're thinking, nothing to hate on about that, what you want to do is kinda expensive for the actual usefulness it may provide, especially around here.

I know a guy :D. Honestly was surprised to see that it was only 2ft/lb off, completely happy with the "investment". Now DO NOT take this to mean they are all that close... They are made in China after all.

Friend of mine bought 10 HF torque wrenches on Gov't contract and had all but 2 certified per FAA requirements for the job he was on (UPS and back up generator work @ various airports), gave the company that does the certification fits when he sent them "junk". they were able to certify 8, thats not terrible......

    Very cool, some real criticism!

Ok so I am in agreement on a locker. This isn't a locker replacement and a locker will make all power on all wheels (with two lockers) available any time you need it. And you are right, they tend to make axles bind and cause people to have to slowly upgrade about everything else.

A line lock does hold it, but the trick is it can hold it in either direction. If you press your brake and then hold the solenoid closed the tire is locked. If you turn it off on three wheels then you have braking on the one. Your foot is capable of more pressure than your arm on a cutting brake handle.

I agree that I might have to disable the ABS, but since the speeds are so slow, I don't think it will kick in. Otherwise there is a ABS kill mod.

I don't plan to use the ABS pump because I don't want to alter the braking behavior if I can avoid it, and my foot is usually available.

I don't plan to use this as a parking brake of any kind. It would be wired to 4 momentary buttons, possibly a joystick over 4 relays. Press front right and the other 3 will lock (not allow fluid to flow)

Not a replacement for a locker, but case in point. You are off camber and have a front left wheel in the air. You are open and you just need a bump to get you through. Lock it, or hit the button for left front and left foot the brakes while feathering the gas. As long as you don't stall it you should get some rotation from the other wheel, enough brake pressure on the opposite wheel you can force lots of torque to the other wheel.

Cost, about $60 / wheel plus relays and buttons. Under $250.
.And please, if I'm wrong about any of the above assumptions I want to know.

No it's not. and considering the graduations on the handle are so faded I'd have to be wearing my reading glasses to even use a certified one.
I understand their digital torque adapter is crazy accurate though. I picked one up for $19 and was able to check it against my torque wrench. If the digital one is accurate then my wrench is 2 or 3 off at 50lbs. too.
