Gotya, thanks for your experience here. I think I will shy from recommending this if skilled alignment shops have a hard time achieving this. Good to know it is possible though.

 

Yes but you can't max lcas without camber adjustment up top since caster/Camber changes. So maxing the lca bolts will not work without camber up top.

If you push both forward when stuffing on the trail the tire moves upwards instead of back into the firewall do to the angle.

I can change the spc ball joint setting without moving lca at all and cause major rub just backing out driveway.

 

It's simple...with my SPC's I set them at 2* and max camber...putted over to the alignment shop. And explained to them very slowly to max out my lowers caster and then dial in my camber up top. And it should set me about 3.5* caster or real close. Well my lowers are currently siezed so I'm only at 2* or so till I get new crap. But the guy knew what I wanted.

 

Oh ok cool, so you got the exact same set up which is partly why you are successful with this route too then?

 

Yes it works. But they had to cut major shit.

On my 4runner if you put 35s on you can't even turn. Peeps then did full firewall cut, chop and weld.

Now with spcs tuned like I'm explaining you can run 35s on the street. Turn lock to lock and barely rub the frame. No pinch weld or firewall modification needed.

You just won't need to hack as much.

 

Like he said that's the recommended way to start. I think the trusted shops I used never seen an spc arm.

 

Right, there's shops out there that don't grasp concept that you can get an alignment outside of what shows in their computer as "Green"

 

All you guys talking about these alignment specs are making me go crazy

 

But again they are not adjusting them like I am or spc recommended to me. Sounds like they are putting them at positive 2* location. That's why i only achieved 2* at alignment at -4* setting meaning my lcas are pushed further than most setups. My brothers 4th gen is pretty close to a tacoma up front. Cab mount issue are all.

Either way it sounds like your closed minded to something new. I'll just have to prove it but that will be long time out.

This is true, I was stock height and ran 265s, never once did I experience any rub.

 

I'm going to do it anyways. Wish I had before picture. At 4* caster aligned at spc +2* setting. Before just sitting and tire turned like so I was pretty much touching firewall. You can see my crappy cut and pound job due to major rubbing. Off-road shop and everyone says cut cut cut.

I have tons of clearance now with how I set it up. I didn't need to pound or cut anything.

This same logic works on any IFS toyota. Yes cab mount ideally still needs chopped.

 

All things considered though, that is a reasonable clearance. I couldn't go full lock without rubbing on my Bros.
