Adjuster was out today. I missed it but wife was there. They suggested CRITTER CONTROL COMPANY for total attic cleanout and sanitizing. I'll see what they use. From what I've read they use a lot of safe products and some with 3 to 4 hour life.

Yesterday evening. And today's demo progress on the shed. They used 10x more nails than needed to put this POS together.

    Nothing worthy
    Do it!
Maybe not a stone bench though?
I think a good mix of wood and stone is nice.
Too much wood bad, too much stone just as bad.
    Love big stones though

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I'm afraid to look at the price tag on that.

You should see an Amish built shed

Plumbers are finished up their sub slab drain work and supplies , plumbing inspection is tomorrow , we will start our slab prep after that but I got s jump start on an exhaust vent I have to install under the slab for an island mounted downdraft range .

I'm not a huge fan of downdrafts in general or running the exhaust under the slab because if you are not careful you can get bad issues with condensation and with that grease build ups

I wanted to make certain the sub slab portion of the exhaust stays warm and is on the conditioned side of the air and vapour barrier

Trench from island location to dummy void location in kitchen cabinetry where we can transition back to metal and provide a place for a clean out , pipe with then exit the wall under the window through the back of the cabinet .

Installed R12 , 2 1/2" XPS styrofoam box with all seams taped

6 mil Vapour Barrier draped into styro box that will be taped to the rest of our sub slab vapour barrier once it is installed to create a continuous air and vapour barrier under the slab , 6" CSA PVC pipe with all connections glued

Backfilled inside the styro box and tamped under and around pipe

That's the best downdraft I've seen. And yes I've seen them full of all kinds of crap.

On another note, coon was finally caught that caused alot of damage and an insurance claim!!
    :bananadance:
He's lucky I didn't find him. He's being relocated by the county today.

Place is out of city limits where discharging a firearm is allowed. Like I said coon doesn't know how lucky he is. Wife just said the guy coming out to give estimate on attic cleanout and sanitizing and inspection of wiring afterwards is taking him.
    We shall see.:infantry:

I am considering removing the 1966 vintage insulation matting in my 1200 sq. ft. attic and rolling in new stuff, as well as a radiant foil barrier above. Should I do this myself or bite the bullet and pay for the demo and installation? A few things:
mid-century modern house with a very low pitched roof, at it's peak, there's maybe 3' of space to move through the attic, making demo and install a real chore. I get off work at 2pm meaning I'll be working on this during the hottest hours of the day. Last summer our attic hit 135 degrees. I won't be able to complete the job in one or two days. I'll have to purchase all supplies, gloves, breather, and staple gun for install. A neighbor did his over a few days, investing $450 in insulation and another $250 in radiant barrier.

Why remove the old? That's an awful messy job lol. I'd just add the radiant barrier and call it a day :)

Any chance you can work on it on the weekend in the morning? Also I'd imagine someone charging a good bit since they'd be crawling around in a confined space for a while.

The old stuff is falling apart. It's some strange conglomeration of dense rubberish foam mat and fiberglass. Plus, I want to get the wiring inspected. The house was empty for 4 years before we bought it and there was some rat action in the attic.

If it were me and I could afford it I would def pay somebody to remove all that horrible stuff with a hepa vac and then reinstall it myself lol
And instead of batts I'd rent the insulation blower at lowes and blow some fiberglass or cellulose in
Then again all my experience is cold climate so somebody more familiar with cooling dominated systems could provide better insight :)
