thats not true. i saw the olympics. i mean sure alicia sacrimoni made like 2 mistakes but those are what cost us. the chinese did make mistakes just not as huge as the USA. the only difference between us getting silver and them getting gold was one point. one fuckin point. but we still have the all around competion to count on for our team usa. Shawn johnson is going to kick some ass. especially nastia luiken's

Why so bitter? We got outclassed by the women's chinese gymnastics team. We gave our best effort, they gave their best effort. They had crisper landings and fewer mistakes. Fair is fair, I watched the women's routine on TIVO. Don't be a sore loser, give props to where it is deserved. I have no problem admitting the chinese women outclassed us. Then to top off the whole sore loser thing, the american coach was complaining about the delay causing the gymnist to fuck up. Bullshit, if you're not training your gymnist to be mentally tough enough to work through minor aggrevations then you ain't doing your job, part of winning olympic gold is working through all the distractions that go along with it. Olympic gold means that not only are you physically superior, but you're also mentally tough. Remember Dan Jansen? He had all the physical traits to win gold, but he didn't succeed until he became mentally tough and able to focus at the task at hand. The US coach is a sore loser. A good sportsman is gracious in winning and in losing, no excuses when losing. Excuses are for pussy's, and we ain't no pussy. We have to set the standard on sportsmanship, we set the standard for the rest of the world on everything else...including sportsmanship.

Any athlete at the competition had the same distractions. Some handle it better than others.

Shawn johnson is going to do it. Nastia, maybe, but we will soon see.

No kidding!! I thought for sure he was gonna lose when he took that half-stroke. I lost one race years ago due to that very thing and learned my lesson. How he pulled it around I'll never know, but I damn near jumped off my couch when the places came up on the screen.

    Simply awesome.

How they hell do they know the results so fast? Its been bothering me all night. Is there some sensor on the wall? Am I a freaking moron that can't figure this out logically?

Sensor... if you watch some of the under-water shots you can see that the part of the wall they touch is a large, rectangular piece of plastic. You can even see it move slightly when it's touched. It's a big sensor, which is also they reason they're so sure about the results. Phelps won that race, and there's no way we could have been sure w/o the sensors.

    BOOOOOO! YOU'RE NOT AMERICAN!

Seriously, though... did you not watch the replays? Even in super-slow-motion, one one-hundreth of a second is hardly visible to the naked eye. Dude stretched as far as he could, but Phelps touched first.

There was nothing wrong with the sensor.

I figured those big black things were sensors. I was just hoping for controversy sake they were on the honor system.

They have high speed cameras over the finish point as a backup. According to the techs, Phelps touched first.
