Moving a king size bed DCSB

So someone asked me to help them move a king size bed in my tacoma. I plan to angle it in my bed and have it stick out the passenger side. Just checking, anyone move king bed before in DCSB? Can do?

I'm good at tying things so securing it is no issue. Just the size I'm worried about.

 

Fold in half and ratchet strap it.

 

don't think I can fold it, would damage it.

 

I think this includes the box spring too

 

No problem. It won't hang put much past your tailgate.

I'm not worried about the back but the overhang on the side. The queen looks ok. King is 16" wider.

 

Moved a King in my 02 GMC Sonoma 5ft bed for my brother-in-law a few years ago... I stood it vertical, ratchet strapped the crap out of it.

I laid one across the bed rails so it was flat and hung over the bed on both sides.

 

I did the same thing. Moved a King and the two box springs with it. Put it on top of the bed rails, hung over both sides but worked just fine. Two straps around the mattress, and then one from the hitch to secure it from sliding back.

 

I put a king in my dclb, stacked the 2 bkx springs in bed then put matress over top and ratcheted around matress and down into bed/under matress. If you give me some time i can dig up a picture

What we basically did was wrap the headboard and footboard in blankets, put them inbetween the mattress and two box springs all standing vertically in the center of the bed. Then put a ratchet strap around all that horizontally about 1/3 up from the bottom and another 1/3 down from the top, cranked them down as much as we could. then put one going from some tideown points at the front of the bed horizontally around the back and cranked it down tight to hold it in. Then 3 across the top equally spaced and cranked down to 3 tie down points. Made it a couple hundred miles on the interstate. It was quite a fight against the wind at times but we made it.

 

Drove 250 miles like that no issue

manbeast, if the box springs weren't there, would it have been OK?

The box spring might be king size so do you think if I put box spring down over bed rails and then the mattress over it, it'd be OK?

Whichever way you go, PLEASE make sure it's tied down tight top and back.
