Yes you can still make manual downshift on steep descents as you wish. However, once you make a manual shift by hand, the automatic control will cancel and provide a warning. You can then re-engage it by shifting to D then back to S.

There should be plenty of OBD cable already provided to allow mounting under the dash. The harness to the center console will be your limiting factor, but should be long enough to allow you to place it in more obscure locations. Try not to pull too much tension on the cable which could risk pulling wires out of connectors.
The connectors on the device are designed to mate with the OEM sockets but do not lock in quite as tightly as the OEM 'latching' connectors.

Some may think this is funny. I have had my trdsportdcsb since Jan 10th and just tried out the ect for the first time yesterday and wow what a difference. If this thing works as good as they say it does I'm going to have to put some stuff on ebay to sell! My trans is very smooth and my rear end is ok.
Is it ok to run with ect on all the time?

We have been manufacturing them continuously and keeping up with orders pretty well. We now have supplies on-site to complete many more. We will be continuing to ramp up production, while engaging some additional support. Right now we are at a lead time of approx 5-7 days from receipt of order until shipment. Depending on the demand (versus our speed to ramp up production,) we may see that get better or worse over the coming weeks.

Thank you to those who have purchased so far! We too are looking forward to the reviews!

Just installed it. I must say it's the easiest thing I've ever done. Maybe the floor mats were easier.
Just drove across town and it's awesome!!! Most notably is cruising at 40mph or so. Truck does not look to shift into 5th gear and get totally bogged down. Shifts are precise and smooth. And happen when their supposed to. Also going up any hill the same thing happens. It'll stay in 3rd and have power available throughout the gear. Instead of upshifting at innaoripriate times and losing everything.
After this small drive I'm sold. Totally worth it and feels like the truck should have come from the factory.
Thanks so much to the OP for the hard work getting this done.
Right now it's just tucked into the weather tech mat but there's plenty of wire to mount it upside down under the console. And a nice flat panel to put it there too.

YES! Some of us here run in ECT mode 100% of the time, there is even a mod so ECT defaults ON when you start the truck. I am perfectly happy running in ECT mode and see no reason for the unit described in this thread but that's my opinion for my needs.
