Why wouldn't you just thoroughly clean and have better results :notsure:

With the 0.023 I couldn't tell a difference in the weld whether I extensively cleaned, or did my normal once over.

Sometimes you just can`t get things as clean as you would like for what ever reason .

It is good to know when your making a good weld or something needs to be done to fix things .

Some people pick this up fast others it takes years.

Over the years i have worked in places where the employees were encouraged to do as little prep work as possible or none at all

First set of sliders for my wife's 4Runner, done!!! Learned a lot, it's very obvious which side I did first and which was second. I'm happy with them, there are certainly imperfections once you get close. But nothing too terrible, at least not in my eyes

Time to build a roll cage for the taco. Getting the 180* bends for more versatility.

    Nice bender.

Are you planning on doing lots of work with this tool? It was easier for me to give the local muffler shop a pattern made out of coat hangers. They bent me 10 or 12 pieces on a previous job for a case of beer.

Yea i gotta make a few bumpers, a couple exo cages and whatever else I can. Got some buddies that need work done and I need it for myself as well. Used to have one back in the day but sold it when I stopped using it cause it took up a bunch of room in the shop lol

Check out the Hobart models. Specs seem to be equivalent to my Miller Spectrum 375 for a few hundred less.

If your going Plasma go for the best Hypertherm it might cost more up front but well worth the money .

Unless it is going to just sit unused in the corner .

Thermal Dynamics was a close second till Esab bought them now they are fading fast

I just looked the up. The Hyperma 45 can clean cut 5/8" steel, and costs $1770. Looks like a solid unit.

I want to learn how to weld. I know about zero people who would teach me.

Would you guys recommend taking classes at a trade school or such, or like possible trying to get a part time to do it.

Unrelated does anyone know of any part time jobs at metal shops or any local trade schools in south florida that teach welding?

Not sure about Florida but you might want to look into adult education evening classes .

All you can do is ask around But teaching someone to weld is pretty labor intensive your using a machine and the time of someone to give you instruction .

That machine and employee could be billed at $100.00 (round number)

It is quite another thing to take a person able to pass the get in the door test then train them up to pass one code or another to do the welding job .

I know of quite a few bigger companies that do just that.

You might get in the door as a laborer and work your way up.

I took a class at my local community college. Was kind of expensive but well worth it.
