I'll be driving back to SLC again next weekend and I'm planning on leaving after work Wednesday. So maybe 4-5. I'm driving back to Utah on hwy 50 (after my last experience on i80 I will never take that road again).

Are there any camping spots on that route that are maybe 5-6 hours from San Jose? Splitting my trip a little is helpful. I'm off to Moab for white rim trail and don't want to do the the San Jose - Salt Lake City - Moab drive in one day.

Great Basin is off highway 50 near the border of Nevada/Utah. Little farther out than 5-6 hours to the bay (closer to 10) but established campsites and very cool.

There are some cool spots out by Austin NV as well in Humboldt-Toiyobe NF.

Edit: Bob Scott campground near Austin. It's right off highway 50.

More shit then I ever planned on doing
I was considering that but camping with the wife and 3 kids requires a large tent. Too big to stuff in the soft topper IMG_2880.jpg

That pic I posted a little above was from bob Scott on my last drive from SLC. If I was leaving a little earlier I'd try for one of those middle sites. But leaving when I am I probably have max 6 hours. Even that will put me at camp around 11-12.

There seems to be a national forest right before Nevada. Eldorado right after pillock pines. Maybe there's somewhere in there.

Oh yeah no way then. I have a three person tepui and it barely fits.

Thanks for not berating me about the search. Sounds like for <$100 it's the way to go. I was looking at the traction jacks at one point and i was surprised how $$ they were so I waited. Also there was some conversation a while back about boards that were usable for bridging. So maybe a set of these and another set that are bridgeable will be the complete package.

    THanks,
