    Hey guys,

I'm driving to Moab from the east coast planning to get there either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning with about four days of off-roading. I'll post all the pictures here for anyone that wants to follow along. Also that wants to meet up or give advice on the area, I would appreciate it!

    Thanks,

As a fellow MassHole who was there last summa on my GSA my only advice is be prepared to be blown away by the beauty, and don't go over any cliffs, even the little ones hurt, ask me how I know.

Post lots of pics, once you've been there the place haunts you eternally

No need to PM you. I was on my motorcycle so it was a very different beast then you will have on four wheels. After my wreck we stayed in the Holiday in right in town, but that was because I was pretty broken up, in slings and casts and other fun stuff. Prior to the wreck however we were in ground tents. On bikes we didn't need camp grounds as it's fairly easy to find a good campsite and keep out of the public eye, so we just stayed where we found.

We were riding the UTBDR from Magic Hat heading north. We did a couple good days in the desert, white rim, and Lockhard Basin. I wouldn't think of doing Lockhard again, especially in my truck. It is do-able but the sheer number of places you could just F up your truck are un-real. It was on LaSalle Mountain pass on day four I bounced my rear tire off a boulder wrong and got tossed over an 8' ledge at 30MPH, after that it was 4 hours waiting for the sheriff and ride into the hospital, then renting a u-haul and loading a badly broken bike and rider in for the ride of shame east.

The BDR routes are awesome in every western state, and are mapped out from expert to moderate. They have campgrounds listed as well as places of interest i.e. the painted rocks. I'm away from home for the day, but tomorrow afternoon when I get home I'll dig through my notes and try to get you some specifics.

I'm much more familiar with Colorado as I've ridden that 3 times on my bike. Last year was the first trip to Utah, and it was cut 10 days short

google UTBDR, Touratech sells the maps, but I recall seeing then around out west. I think you can download a version with GPS tracks. If your goal is to see a region there is nothing that compares to the BDRs, if your out to test your limits you will find opportunities, but there are probably better resources. Most serious 4x4 riders I met out there trailered a truck to push the limits with. I was surprised by this, but I probably spoke to 8 guys that all said the same thing.

In Kansas now, getting to Moab later this afternoon. Anyone have any trail recommendations left for tomorrow or want to meet up in the next couple days!

    Thanks

If you want to go remote, check out the maze district. My favorite area within canyonlands. Awesome wild country. Just call the ranger station before you get there for availability and have a full tank of gas!
