Spent the evening with a friend/fabricator getting my bike shuttle rack mocked up and test fitted on the tacoma! Doing it in stainless so it should outlast the damn truck. Finish welding should be done today, hardware should show up today as well so we'll do another test fit with everything attached. Then off to powder coating.

 

Lots of details after its done, i would love something like this

this whole thing will pivot about where my hands are holding it in the second pic so that it folds up and over to the front of the bed when not in use, that way i retain my whole truck bed with the pull of some pins.

 

Congrats! I've got a set of Toyota all weather mats for a double cab, if you're interested. They aren't Weathertech or Husky but they'll keep most of the mud out of your carpets. They've been in my truck for the past couple of years and I just replaced them with some Aries floor liners.

 

Just curious how this compares to just doing a tailgate pad? How many bikes will it be able to hold?

Wait until you realize it's missing things as simple as heated mirrors and 1 touch windows.

 

Today I found out someone hit my truck last night and didn't leave a note. I backed it in far away from other cars, I thought...people are assholes. I've only had the truck a month.

Was able to pop it back out to make it look less shitty. Guess an offroad bumper is in my future now.

 

5 bikes. Just as shown in the picture it will extend out over the lowered tailgate, and also hold the bikes up higher than the tailgate pad would. this makes for more room in the bed (i have a short bed) and spaces the bikes out way better. also i wont have the look of a tailgate pad when driving around town. the second pic is the rear wheel carrier that will 'clip' in and out of the bed by the wheel wells. It will further help hold the bikes in place while we rally back up the fireroads all day for more laps!

 

Heated mirrors are overrated. I had them on my GTI and hardly ever needed them, its not that hard to brush them off lol. I do miss the one touch windows though.

 

Woke up this morning with a splitting headache, blurred vision, and a nose bleed. I was really getting scared there for a moment before I realized I was just going through standard withdrawal because I hadn't purchased anything for my truck yet.

Nice, thats a good idea for the short bed. So the wheel will hang over that piece on the tailgate the same way then? Cant wait to see the finished product. I dont mind the tailgate pad look driving around town, here's my setup:
