Spray on bedliner anyone?

Hey all, I was pondering the idea of a spray on bedliner for my 2013 4 banger. The main thing I need to remedy are my things sliding around on the slick plastic bed. I've thought of other rubber liners but like the idea of the spray on type coating. Anyone out there tried this on the composite bed?

 

From my understanding, it won't adhere. OEM rubber bed mat is best & cheapest option.

I called the Line-X guy here where I live and he said he did it for his Mother-in-law so it is doable but he said it took a lot more prep work so it really isnt worth it for him to do. I would think if one was to offer and extra hundred dollars or something he might change his mind.

OEM bedmat keeps things from sliding around for me.

 

Bed mat works fantatic and a bunch cheaper. Plus you still get slide with Line-X and Rhino Liner. Just as much as with the composite except its abrasive, so it makes it worse. I've had to lay down mats/blankets when hauling things like furniture in my Fords with Line-X. It will slide quite a bit.

I like my OEM bed may. Mostly for when I have to get in my bed. Saves my knees.

I was considering having my buddy line my sliders, but then it would be slick when wet still unless textured as hell..............and even then I NEVER use them as steps so my calf usually rubs on em when I get out. Cant imagine the stuff he uses as being fun to slide across (full metal jacket)

 

I wanted to line my Research electric steps because the powdercoat is failing but the steps rub my dress pants so that wouldn't work out so well.

 

Horse mat. Tractor supply store. Cut to bed dimensions. Save many dollars.

 

I ended up buying a non OEM bed mat on eBay and I'm loving it. Took care of my sliding problems and it's not that heavy. Seems to add some good protection to the plastic bed as well. Thanks for the input all...

It can be done. I had Line-X spray mine. Took just a little more prep work. Turned out good. I think it depends on the dealer, if they do it or not. It ran me about $450.00. It was worth it for me.

Are you sure the spray on will stop things from sliding around?
I went to one of the warehouse stores (Costco) and found a mat that you put under exercise equipment.
It covers all the bed except the small area behind and in front of the wheel wells.
This thing is a very heavy rubber, just cut the length and threw it in, nothing slides around unless you take a turn on two wheels.
It's so heavy there was no need to bolt it down, I drive on the interstate daily, it stays put, only cost about $35.

 

I assume you're referring to stall mats? I used to work part time at a TSC and hated loading those heavy ass things, especially when people would buy a dozen of them . They are rugged though.

 

I had my first gen Line-X'd and when I got home the case of beer was still right where I put it rather than on the metal bed would slide around all over in there.

 

I have rhino liner in my old truck with a metal bed floor and it doesn't slide at all, and isn't abrasive in the least. I told the guy who applied it to turn the air up on the gun so it's nice and lumpy. Has a nice heavy orange peel texture and grips like crazy. just a nice heavy rubbery coating. Only time i have sliding issues is, once a year when I blast it all clean with the tire cleaner at the car wash and then soak it armor all to get the nice deep black back into it. Texas sun has a way of sucking the deep black out of it. Been doing that once or twice a year since the liner was installed in 98 and it's still perfect. It's only slippery for a few days until I blast off the left over armor all. But, for my 13 taco, I went with the OE mat. Much cheaper and works great. And if the composite bed gets damaged I don't lose my grip option if I have to replace it. I wouldn't trade my rhino liner in my old truck for anything though.

 

I would go rhino liner in a heart beat if I could find someone local to do it for me but I do have to admit that it is hard on the knees.
