Not to throw cold water on your plan, but if you don't seal the panels, water will get in and stay there. I just use heavy duty ziplock bags to keep the contents dry.

ABS, from what I've experienced it holds up the best to the moisture. I've never printed nylon so I can't say much to that.

I'm curious, which panels are you meaning? Between the bed wall and the flange of the compartment?

I just shaped a thin/tall bead of silicone around my doors and let it set overnight before placing them back on. Works fine for me.

OP said he's got Mobtown doors, which include a gasket. Also, those with waterproof toppers or tonneaus need not worry about the door seals. For others:

I made a post that I found a gasket that can work but, I wasn't sure of the needs of most people. I have a set of aftermarket doors that included a gasket to seal the door. I'll add an option on the poll to see what people would want.

Was gonna say, PLA prob wont hold up to the elements long term. This is such a small/easy part, forget 3D printing. Perfect for injection mold and pump them out.

Haha if only that was an option....the cost of a mold for injection molding is $5k+ I don't think you guys would want that much cost add onto the plastic pieces. :bananadead:

Won't the cup trap and hold whatever water gets past the door seal, at least for those without a cap? Some drainage might be good.

you could attach a short piece of silicone hose to the drain hole so that it's not as easy for dirt and dust to get in, but water can still drain out.

I also am interested in complete parts kit with 3m double sided tape. After going from Tundras with underseat(rear) stowage box, I need to utilize all my TRD OR DCLB compartments. I do not like water or road debris getting into the bed storage compartments.

So here's a big 'ol update for everyone that is watching & waiting:
    • I have the materials to start on order and they'll hopefully all be in next week.
    • The price will be $20 w/shipping included for a set (on either trim sets, SR=2 large cubbies & TRD=1 large + 1 small cubby).
    • For $2 more I will add gaskets that will fit onto the OEM doors to your order.
    • I did one last revision on the top and bottom covers. Bottom Covers had a drainage hole added so that by chance any water does get in, it'll drain out. (pictures below) (@Sidney Vicious)
    • I'm just trying to finalize everything on the back-end for me so that everything will be organized and help make the whole process smoother for everyone.
    • I'll have a Google form for people fill out so it organizes everything easier than trying to comb through PMs and posts. Once that's taken care of I'll start taking pre-orders so I can try and keep up with materials and production.
I'm not certain on the rules for this so if someone knows better please let me know, but; to sell these I'm guessing it needs to be in the marketplace, so I'll be making a thread on the 3rd Gen parts marketplace that will have everything for purchasing.

*don't mind the rough printing job this was a rush to make sure they would print well. Ones that I'll be shipping may get sanded to clean up any rough spots

Need much better photos to show exactly what/where you are talking about. I am all in for keeping dust and water out and will likely be very interested. I have no clue where they go however!
