From TN here and trying to plan a little overland type deal. Wanted to ask about Poplar Stump Rd, Tray Mnt. Trail, Corbin Creek Rd, and Indian Grave Rd. Is there enough cruising and riding on those routes to spend 2 days with a night of camping?

Looking for stuff that is scenic with decent camping that might provide some fun for Stock OR Tacoma and a couple of mildly lifted Jeeps. Trying to make a 2 day trip out of it ending in Helen for a tube ride down the river.

    Any info is MUCH appreciated.

Hey there! Being from Ga I know a good amount of the trails in GA. Tray Mtn is probably one of the best we have to offer seeing it's long enough to justify the trip and has some decent camping spots. There is one spot that can be tricky but it's not hard, I've done it multiple times and I've got 32s and 4wd. So Tray Mtn would be a good trail to hit

Thanks! About how long does it take to do tray from one end to the other?

If you go up the fun side and go all the way to the end it'll take about an hour and half ish. Maybe

What do you know about Bend n Hickory, Bell Mountain Trail and Dobbs? Are all of those still open? I've been hitting YouTube and I see recent vids from Tray, but not many from the others since 2015. I just want to make sure everything in my plan is still open.

    Thanks!!

Bend n Hickory and Dobbs are the same thing and they are closed. Bell Mountain is still open but it's paved so even a Civic can make it up. It's worth the view if you're in the area but it'll be packed now a days. You could look into Flatlands in Suches it's a cool little trail.

All I can find on that is here and it's not very much. Can you tell me how long it is... out and back or loop... difficulty... and where it starts. Thank you for the heads up on the others and for the suggestion on this one.

If you're doing Trey / Charlies might as well do Dicks while your at it. You can go east from Trey to Dicks creek and it'll put you out about 10 mins from Charlies. Dicks is super easy, if you're looking for something more exciting have you thought about going to Beasley Knob? Its $5 bucks a day but has a bunch of medium/hard trails.

It's not bad at all, a spotter helps if you don't have any armor and haven't done it before

Beasley Knob, if dry it's fun. If it's wet it's a F'n dangerous. Don't get me wrong I'll hit it either way. But, several sections that are off camber rock faces and sharp unbalanced turns that when wet can be treacherous! When we going!!!

Yeah that's a negative ghost rider on Beasley unless it's been dry for a solid month. We waited for two weeks after a rain and it was still a shit show

Yeah that's the only intricate part, but it's been a few months since I've hit it. Yeah I love flatlands, going there for Memorial Day weekend and camping, hope it won't be too busy. But I'll never go back to Sheeps Wallow, too much mud IMO. Got it in my headlights....:frusty:

For this trip, we are looking more for through trails with camping. Starting at Ducktown TN, we are going to try to stay on dirt as much as possible to Helen. There's mostly just dirt FS roads, so that is why I'm trying to route us through some of these GA trails (Like the ones you mentioned above) then tube the river and zip back on the roads. They look just hard enough to be fun in near stock trucks, but not anything that will hang a group up all day.

If you were going to tie together a days worth of some of these (including Tray) what would your route be? I mean where would you start and where would you come out that would have the bet flow towards Helen? I have access to that online GA trail map that is floating around on this forum. It's very helpful.

    Thanks!

Honestly idk if there's a way to stay on just dirt roads, but I'd venture from Charlie's Creek to Dicks Creek to Trey then to Flatlands. But most of that is not driving on trails

Oh right. Yeah I know there will be some pavement. Just trying to keep it as dirt as possible. Of those trails you mentioned... when you consider how long it takes to run them and the distance between them all, are they a one day deal or is it a better idea to take like a day and a half?

Again... thank you for all your advice!
