OK.... Maybe you guys can help me with this one. I'm traveling to Sault St Marie on the 26. Should I attempt to cross the north trail in ardbeg on the way up? It calls for minimum 2" lift and 33" tires. I have the lift but only have 265 70 17 ko2 (around 31"). I'd love to hit this thing but I actually need to make it to Sault St Marie on that day. What do you guys think?

Hi Thyces I haven't been on that trail but I laugh inside when guys specify stuff like tire sizes and other things like that as needed in order to do a trail. Haha. I've been on some really tough trails from northwestern Ontario to the Yukon and often I was in a stock government 4x4 beater with a winch and that was it. I've pulled guys out of swamps in the back country in mighty off road rigs built out of 1000s $ worth of speciality parts and oversize tires. The biggest factor in an unknown trail is the weather. If it's dry, and you're by yourself be confident and sensible. If you don't have a winch toss in a come along. If you don't know what a come along is, figure it out and get one.

    Lol
That's very sensible info, thanks. I've only been on @tacoma16 's property in the snow. I do often splash around in the mud in my area but nothing too drastic. I basically just passed on the info for the trail posted on of4wd website. I've been seeing videos on YouTube of the trail and I think I can handle it with my truck but a buddy with a winch would be great.

Yeah a friend is best for sure. If the weather stays good and it's dry I would definitely go for it. I did a lot of back country travel by myself because it was work related and in the old days you just did it and it was no big deal. I've only left a truck in the bush once. I was walking 15 miles to the Alaska Highway in the middle of nowhere by myself and this old native guy in a two wheel drive beater gave me a ride all the way to Haines Junction. I felt pretty foolish leaving behind a brand new 4x4 Suburban with a fried automatic transmission but shit happens sometimes. It was a warranty issue and the dealership had to tow it to Whitehorse. It cost somebody $000's haha.

Down. The trail is doable. I have done it stock on 265's as well but like @oldtoyotaguy said it really depends on the weather and condition of the trail.

You definitely want to go with someone just in case. Hell a dead battery on your own could cause a expensive tow/recovery out there.

Just let me know and we can do it. If this is on the weekend and summerish time.

Also I don't know how long the north trail is off the top of my head but some times the trail can take a day, so factor in camping or something. Don't know if you were thinking of just heading in and up kind of thing. I know the loop takes some time.

Yeah I was kind of hoping to make it like a 3-4 hour thing max. I have to drive the rest of the way to Sault St Marie afterwards.

Gotcha I don't even know if I can make it out on that day. Have to check the schedule and make sure there's nothing going on with the gfs family.

@Thyces I won't be able to swing the 26th of this month. Having some family down that probably wouldn't appreciate me being gone lol.

Also I will be in Windsor next weekend for the long weekend. Going to pelle island. If your around, could have a meet?

I thought I might be too short a notice. Definitely down for a meet. The ferries to pelee Island don't fuck around with their schedule.... Ask me how I know...

Good to know. Thankfully we have the last one on the Saturday so we shouldn't be late since we have the day to get our shit together.
Now hopefully we don't miss it coming home....leaving on the Monday I think.
