I have a 4 cylinder 2008 Tacoma access cab SR5 auto trans 2wd with 217,000 miles that I want to sell.

    The positive:
    -Clean title
    -New brake pads & rotors
    -New shocks and struts(all 4)
    -New Spark plugs(done at dealer)
-New valve cover gasket and center gasket(done at dealer)

    Negative:
-Cruise control died(not an easy fix I had an entire thread trying to diagnose)
-Paint on the bottom of the passenger door is slowly peeling off, started happening slightly after the warranty ran out :ugh:

Not trying to find a buyer on this thread, just wanted an honest opinion so that I can get an idea as to how much my truck is really worth. Not sure if it's true for all Tacomas but for example on the TRD's if listed at KBB value, they sell super fast, that's why I wanted an opinion outside of KBB and NADA.

Important to note, this is a 2WD truck, I moved to a state where it snows. If that's a factor in the pricing, I'm willing to drive back to California to my parent's place so that I can get more for it.

    Thanks in advance guys.

    Mileage is an important factor.

Did you look up the kbb value. Miles and color probably matter to. I'm sure a speedway blue truck will sell for a little more than a metallic brown. Is the truck a prerunner or 5 lug?

Fixed, sorry guys I missed the most important factor. 217k miles.

I've seen trucks like mine listed for $12,000-$14,000 with about 150,000 and they're gone the next time I check. Dealer price is always higher than private party so I don't fantasize selling my truck for that high.

Truck is SR5 but not a Pre-Runner. 5 lug wheels.

Selling a 2WD truck in a state that gets snow will be a harder sell. If it's not a big deal for you to get it back to CA, I would do it.

I'm going to say $7000-$8000 without seeing an actual picture of it or knowing the color.

Truck is white, not a special color.

    Nada says $7000 trade in
KBB says $7500 private party in good condition, $8200 very good condition and $9100 if in excellent condition.

Thanks, will try that. Didn't want to list too high because sometimes buyers don't even bother inquiring when the price is too high.

Good luck with your sale. I hope you find and enjoy an awesome 4WD vehicle. Where did you move to, btw? My wife and I now have the typical Northeast setup, a Tacoma for me and a Subaru wagon for her.

I'm in the pacific northwest. Have had it on craigslist for about 2 weeks and strangely enough, not even a tire kicker. I had it priced pretty close to what we came up here and nothing at all. Had my brother list it back home. We'll see what happens.

Kinda stressful, I expected to get lowballers and stuff but nothing at all is kinda strange. Would like to sell it soon because once my new job starts I wont have time for long distance selling/buying.

A 2012 TRD Off-Road with 74k miles sold the other day in Utah at a dealership for $23k, I almost cried. :(

With paint peeling and cruise dead, that is certainly going to put it in the lower pricing point of kbb. If your looking to sell quickly, don't set the price high. Everyone else who is looking to buy is looking up the kbb value also. If it were 4wd or the 4.0, you would have a better chance of asking more.

The 4cyl and automatic combo may be a tough sell. It seems like most people who want the four banger want a stick shift.
