Of course common sense would dictate that they should be getting better as they go along 17 should be better than 16 and 18 should be better than 17 but ? I specifically waited an extra 6 to 8 months to get a 17 and although I may not have the low tranny fluid issue I sure have everything else. I have had quite a few issues with my 17 with less than 1K miles . I'm very disappointed Toyota did not address some simple things.

The reality is Toyota can do what GM started doing in the mid 70's and start manufacturing complete junk and their stock price would soar.Central banks have been manipulating and propping up inflated stock prices since the crash of 2009.They do this several ways.

Inflated stock prices is where the real money is which has nothing to do with quality or value offered to the consumer.

Hi, I've worked at a Toyota Dealer in the Chicago area for over 17 years. The next big addition to the Tacoma will be Toyota Safety Sense https://www.toyota.com/safety-sense/. It is amazing! The pre-collision system, lane departure alert, radar laser cruise control & automatic high beams. Safety sense is standard on almost all current 2017 models even including the Corolla, Yaris, Highlander, RAV4, iM, iA.

I've not heard that it is official yet. We are expecting it to be probably be standard on 2018 models. If I was going to purchase a new Tacoma (which my 2009 is looking old compared to the new model), I'd wait.

I've got one. It's an experimental model and I'm not aloud to talk about it.

I know, it's dangerous enough to own a Tacoma now it's dangerous to just talk about the Tacoma . Lol

Current Drivetrains will probably stay until 4th Gen comes out, although they could possibly have another automatic with more gears but probably not even that.
