Hey guys,i know the name has been passed around, but i finally made the call to certifit on the TRD Sport Hood with scoop. $87.50! Damn thats wicked cheap! I think thats the best option for guys like us without the scoop but want it. i have a buddy that does paint/bodywork, so i'm thinking i can make this venture cost less than $150 and save enough to throw on the hood strut kit from redline!

Post pics when you get it done. I would be all over this but i am worried about the quality of the metal and the fit.

i wouldn't be... i've bought parts from them in the past, and they were identical, granted not for the taco, but other trucks. also, i believe another guy bought and installed the hood from certifit and said it fit perfectly!

Did you factor in the cost of painting and possibly color blending into the $150 cost? Don't know what color your truck is but they may need to color blend into your fenders in order to make it match better, regardless if they have your exact paint code. I have a Silver Streak Mica (1E7) and this is what they will most likely have to do with mine. Just a heads up...

Yes sir, my buddy does paint.... $150 is my total cost in this project from the hood to paint. Only extra is going to be the hood strut kit! Honestly, even if I didn't have the hookups, whatever it would normally cost to paint the hood is still a steal compared to dealer prices. unless of course you could find someone thats trading their hood for a non-scooped version, but how often do you come across that in the paint scheme you need?

What color is it when you buy it before painting it?

100% its the hood with scoop. certifit has always had rediculous prices, but even that price surprised me at first. Sadly, I don't live in Charlotte anymore and have to wait til my next visit home to pick up the hood, luckily only 3 hour drive. I'll be a guinea pig for this round. I'll def keep you guys updated as far as the quality of the hood.

try to find out who it was if you remember. I would love to see how it fits. I just know that on my 97 tacoma when i wrecked it they tried to buy some aftermarket fenders and hood and i paid hell trying to get it to line up just right.

The insert mentioned is the plastic part underneath the scoop to keep it blocked off so rain and dirt doesn't blow right into your engine bay. Let us know how it fits though, I have a TRD sport and my hood with scoop has hail damage, this may be cheaper than having it fixed

Just do a search for certifit and a few pictures will come up of others who have done it. I have a certifit less than 2 hours from my current location and one back home in Houston and both places told me I would have to buy the scoop parts seperately (total of 3) that they didn't have them. You can't beat the price of the hood by any means, nor any of their other parts that they sell. Good luck with it and let me know how it turns out...sweet deal on the paint hook up!

Toyota dealer. There goes your budget

Maybe find the parts at a junkyard, but finding an intact OEM hood would sort of make this aftermarket stuff superfluous...

    Pretty much stock
another guy that did it on here somewhere said his scoop parts were right around 90 dollars.

Total it usually runs around 300 - 350 total for the hood, set and ready to go.
