ah ok, I call those fob keys because the alarm fob is built into it

check ebay, they have those types of keys for just about anything

click the link for "compatible vehicles" it shows it works for my 04 so I would think so but check your year.

just check carefully for the programing instructions and reviews, some alarm fobs are sold by clueless idiots who don't provide accurate programming info and you have problems getting the right programming info for your truck. you don't want to be left trying to figure out how to find programming info on google for some unknown brand fob lol

I had no clue what a flip key was either

One of these days I need to put the ignition switch back together.

Then the flat blade screw driver works so well and also removes screws

Thinking about this if you got a lock cylinder for the newer trucks it should get you the correct blank your looking for

You can get a set of blanks on eBay for around $10 and it should cost around $5 to have them cut at a local shop.

yes if he switched to the 01-04 locks those will fit and that would get him what he is after.

personally I don't see much difference in a big ass key vs a fob hanging from a regular key but to each his own

I was not sure just how bad you wanted to make this happen

This would make it possible .

Since I never lock the doors to me it is no big deal

same here, my truck has an alarm I never use so if I wanted to go buy fobs and program them I would have an alarm but I couldn't care less about having more junk on my key ring.

it takes 2 seconds to stick the key in the door to unlock it lol

it's more about not having to remember to lock my doors before getting out ... I don't mind a fob or something.

Any idea how much that'd cost?
    I have no concept.

fobs are easy and would solve your problem, no need for it to be built into the key http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement...ash=item2cb0df857d:g:FWQAAOSwXYtYtyeR&vxp=mtr

as to swapping out all the locks, it depends, if you buy a used set off ebay it might be pricey but if you find someone with a parts truck that has power windows and locks then you can probably work out a deal at a reasonable price like $50-$100 for all of it but its a lot of work to swap all that out, not hard but it is time consuming

I get it but I gave you your options as far as I could find

    that's all I can offer

I suggest you call the "company" that makes those (not the guy selling it) and ask if they work on all 95-04 Tacoma trucks, all the fobs do so I see no reason the all-in-one wouldn't work as well even though it doesn't show it will

    TR47 - Basic blank key
Toy43 - chip key most 1st gen Tacoma security not enabled
    Toy44D - chip key 2005-2010
    Toy44G - chip key 2011-2015
    Toy44H - chip key 2016+

All are the same blade type the head can be either hard plastic top or a soft rubber logo or no logo.
On most Toyota cars/trucks the key code is printed or engraved on the passenger door lock cylinder (10001-15000). I had a basic metal TR47 key but took off the door panel read the code and cut a nice set of hard plastic headed Toy44D no programming needed for 1st gens. Haven't seen a flip key as of yet but wouldn't be surprised if somebody makes one.
