I am home safe. Alternator did not like to be submerged in swamp water. Neither did my starter. Besides that and a little bedside damage and scratches from pushing off trees, oh and getting towed at the end of the day ( thank you @El Dahs ) today was definitely an awesome day despite the rain. It was a nice little added challenge. Definitely foresee AOAA having its own thread very soon.

Luckily the winch train worked as planned. I had to back up a tight trail for a few hundred yards to turn around. Fun times.

Two cent input from the safety guy:
    1. Please use a damper on the winch line. Heavy blanket or coat would've worked.
    2. You guys need to stay out of the recovery danger zone. Hanging out at/near the the path of the winch line trajectory is a recipe for disaster.

Other than that, I like how you secured the anchor truck to the tree.

    Looks like a great time!

I need to go check the place out one of these days.

    Yes lets

    Sir yes sir.

Luckily there were no shock loads on the winch line.

Snapback from a synthetic line isn't as tremendous as a winch cable. Ive witnessed first hand snapback... its not pretty but the line doesn't come back with the force youd think.

    All relative Mr. Hunter.

You want to be be hit very hard with a snapped synthetic line and/or broken metal hardware attached to it.

Or do you want to hit extremely hard with a snapped aircraft cable and/or broken metal hardware attached to it.

Or do you want to use a line damper AND get out of the way of a possible line/cable break and not get hit at all?

    Pick one.

Does anyone remember what the trail numbers were for that first trail we bailed on and the concrete covert?
