I picked up this Silver 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road on Thursday. I went to the dealership with the idea that I was going to order a truck to my liking. A problem that I encountered was that I couldn't really figure out what color that I really wanted. I have always liked dark navy blue or maroon colored vehicles but of course neither of these colors was an option. I thought that I totally disliked the silver color because I just thought that it was a blah looking color. When I was shown this silver truck it looked just right with the 3" lift and 32" Toyo Open Country tires mounted on black Fuel wheels. At first my thoughts were, "damn...why does this truck have to be silver of all colors?". I test drove a couple of trucks but kept coming back to the silver Taco. I decided on purchasing the truck and now I love the overall look of the truck and silver has grown on me in a big way over the past couple of days. So.....I now believe that it's the overall look of the truck and any color probably looks good in the right configuration. This Taco is going to take me on many fishing trips to Padre Island beaches and is ready to go after the rust proofing sets in the next day or two. I Love my new Taco!

I felt the same way when I bought my '05. It was black. Really didn't want that, but there were no other colors available at the time in the configuration desired. Then I realized that black was a standout when it was clean, you could see the metallic flakes, at least that's what it looked like. Then it got dirty, lol.
Glad you're enjoying your color and have fun!

Congrats on the truck, my previous 3 Tacoma's were all Silver, awesome color and easy to clean. My new one is MGM, looks sexy but hard to keep clean.

That looks sweet!...how do you like the tires for general everyday use as far as ride comfort?

My 01 is white and prerunnered, left the glass white, everything matched. I had always loved that white/fuck you "unsponsored" look, and wanted either a 17 white or 17 quicksand. But instead found everything I was looking for, but in SSM. I thought the color (shade) was blah as well. But it's my preferred shade of choice from now on, it's always clean looking, and when it's actually muddy it looks rad. If I had to choose SSM over white, I would choose SSM. And if I had to choose between QS, SSM, or cement, I would have a problem.

The ride is surprisingly nice. I thought that the truck would have a bumpier, rougher ride with these tires but to my surprise it was very smooth. (Not luxuriously smooth like a '78 Lincoln Continental gliding on air...but smooth). I'm very impressed with the comfort level that I have driving this truck. I am enjoying the ride and can't wait to get her into the soft sand to see how easy my beach cruises will be. I love the fact that the crawl control is there in case I ever need it.

I used a local Ziebart for the undercoating/rustproofing. They get into the nooks and crannies and do a good job in covering all surfaces. I even had my shocks and springs coated....they used to be blue and yellow from what I'm told but I wanted total rust protection being that I am going to use my Taco on the salty beaches. I just hope that the Taco's weight hauling capacity is strong enough to carry the weight of all of the fish that I catch. :D

I was thinking about this the other day because I'm convinced there is not a bad Taco color. It's weird but I kinda like them all. Then again I didn't set out to buy an orange truck when I bought mine.

Now I'm somewhat obsessed with the inferno color and all things orange. o_O

Good looking truck! Bought a 2011 DC TRD Sport in Silver and like you, wasn't crazy about the color. Wouldn't trade it after having it 2 weeks. Silver is a great color on the Tacoma!

Dig the truck and color, silver sky is the best color imo, those wheels though not so much. Welcome and congrats.

LMAO....not to worry because of two reasons.
    1. I no longer think that the color is blah.
    2. I hate getting punched in the dick...lol.
