nothing voids the warranty unless the dealer can provide proof that the aftermarket part was a direct reason for the failure. search button finds you results as well

so then you think i would be able to throw headers on or a chip and it wont void the warrenty or leave a ghost in the computer of the truck

What does the dealership have to do to prove your aftermarket part voided the warranty? For example, you're lifted and a cv boot tears. Many on this board I've seen got it replaced, no problem, but what would you do if the dealer said no, you're lifted which voids your powertrain warranty.

While it's not a conventional "chip"- Check out the URD MAF Calibrator or the APR X-1.

Lots of potential between both of those units....

And to the OP- Check out the Moss Magnusson Act....The dealership has to prove the failure- so they would be entirely within their right to refuse to service a broken CV boot if you were lifted...but they may or may not actually turn you down.

its dealer discretion. one says no drive to another one where you live, drive around till they say yes or you give up and fix it yourself.

you also have to take into account that some people have the dealer install lifts or buy them lifted from the dealer, when you do that for you that keeps factory warranty so anything happens they fix it, cause they warrantied it

I guess you and I have different understanding of chips.

Those 20 dollar ebay ones don't work for anything- They change the feel of the engine at the expense of gas mileage and engine wear.

Any other chip/controller by definition MUST send an altered (Maf Cal) or completely replaced (APR X-1) signal to do it's thing.

The Bully Dog/Banks stuff is just like the APR X-1. Any piggy back ECU chip might have a built in map- but the APR can come with a pre built map too...

So I'm not really sure what makes those others "chips" versus the parts available for the Taco....??
