Standard highway gets about 19mpg (by meter) here, but in-town in seattle with tons of hills and whatnot drops me to 12 (by meter). I'm not a leadfoot, but I don't lug it either. Aggressive when required.

So, either you're in a pretty bad place to own a stick truck, or...

    ...

Hey, the penis is fine, thanks.

Go somewhere and drive 55mph for 20 minutes straight or so. If you don't get 20+ mpg Something is wrong. Actually...you should get 22 to 23 mpg.

Wow, 2500 RPMs is not much for this setup, you are not moving along too quickly.

It took my '17 TRD OR 6MT about 1,000 miles before I saw what appeared to me as a 1-2mpg improvement per the computer and on Fuelly. That being said, mine was 16mpg with a lot of city driving in California to about 18mpg (not 12-14mpg that you're talking about). With about 80% city driving now I am around 16-17mpg on a tank. If you're not seeing an improvement after 1,000 - 2,000 miles I'd take it to the dealer and ask.

Also, what tire pressure are you running (and are you on stock tires)?

There's really no discernable break in on these newer vehicles that's a myth from the past

I'm averaging 15-17 on my 7 mile commute stoplight to stoplight. I don't granny it but I'm not balls to the wall either

Same truck here. I drive with a heavy lead foot and consistently get about 16.5mpg. Driving fairly conservatively, I get 18-19. There definitely seems to be something up with yours- that seems excessively low.

Agreed on pretty much no break in, my MPGs have not changed on my truck from day 1 when I left the dealership with 1 Mile on the Odometer.

When I first got my DCOR-17 MT in Dec. I was getting 12-14 mpg. Now that I've got about 7500 I'm getting consistantly 17-18 mpg. Bone stock. The software takes time to learn your driving habits. It will get better. :)

There is no software in the MT learning your driving habits.

12-15 is accurate in an actual city. My typical driving experience in San Francisco involves constant stop signs, stop lights, yielding to pedestrians, hills, and so on. I'm cycling between 1st and 2nd most of the time. The 6MT is pretty much not made for it. Oh well.

Since it's not an AT that may be true. All I know for sure is the more miles i put on it the better the gas mileage improved.

I feel like you bought the wrong Toyota, the Prius was a couple aisles down. HAHA Seriously though if your stressing and taking up energy in your day to do that stuff and you're worried about 1-2 mpg and a few dollars every fill up then I feel sorry for you. Power to you though! Passion is good to have these days I guess, to many sheep wandering around with no drive for anything.

City driving will give varying MPG's depending on how fast you're getting off the line, average speed, and if you live in a town with more stop signs or lights. I learned that driving 80 on the highway will give me 16 MPG and driving 65 will get me 19, while city is 13 mpg since I tend to shift at 2.7k and I go through more stop signs than lights. Most of the responses in this thread is pretty pointless, due to missing data. All this I get XX MPG with XXXX miles is completely useless. Everyone on this forum has different driving habits and we don't have a standard to base that on. I drive a MT Double cab OR 4x4 and I feel like my mpg's are close to what was listed on our window sticker of 17/20.

I actually got similar when I first got my Double Cab MT OR, I would average around 14 MPG. Just hit 5000 miles and I usually average 16-17 MPG now, pretty much all "city" driving and I'd say I drive pretty aggressive plus I'm running 265/75 Duratracs now. I'll second what someone else said about highway driving, if I go over 75 MPH or so MPG's drop dramatically. I usually hang around 70 MPH or so and can get around 19-20 MPG.

When I want to bring my MPG up....I drive in town. 25-30 MPG on the trip fuel meter graph pretty easily . Of course, a 15,000 population small Iowa town is probably different than San Francisco. Then again...If I lived in SF, I'd be on a small motorcycle so I could lane split!! Rode through there on a touring bike last fall...a bit to wide to lane split....do not want to do that again!
