Something to think about, your kids are going to grow. I bought thr Mt Mckinney ( its now called Mt. Denali extended). There is only 3 of us, and there is room for 1-2 more people. Better to have extra room than not enough room.

Was there a horse camp/stable near your camp? That looks exactly like where we camped.

Check out the RTT thread. I know one has that RTT on his his truck with no problems. Others also have RTT's mounted on the bed hanging over the cab or off the back. As long as you have it mounted over the bed and supported good, you'll be fine. I have a customer that owns a fabrication shop here in Pelham that built my racks on my truck and trailer, if your worried about supporting the over hanging ends of the tent.
Your welcome to come by and check mine out.

Im not really worried about supporting it. I had this grand plan to keep the tent below the roofline and it fit on a short bed with a tire swing lol. But doesnt appear thats going to happen now. Where abouts are you located? Would be awesome to see your set up.

    A Crap Load
    Total Miles Traveled - 3809.7
    Odometer Started - 45,904.3
    Odometer Ended - 49,714

    Observations
    - Gas was much cheaper $.20-$.40 on southern route to Grand Canyon
    - Overall MPG - 11.4330 (you can see how it drops when hauling trailer)
Total Gas cost - $776.72 (includes side trip to Grand Canyon at first of trip)

Trails were everything we expected. Scenery is indescribable.
    Observations/Comments:

    - Get up and leave early (0600) to hit the trails and return by 1700 to have dinner and get ready for next day. Sun does not set until 2030 and after arriving back and having dinner getting up the next day was somewhat tough (old men like me need their rest).

    - Rain is a pain when it comes to putting up roof top tents (mine was on a trailer and still took time to organize up, secure trailer and leave) and securing the campsite. Mud is slippery as snot.

    - BFE was a great place to camp. Had it completely to ourselves. Camp maintenance came through every morning. BFE is also used as a gun range but had no issues with idiots not being safe (gunfire from other side of the hill).

    - Needed more time (of course). Wish I had two weeks alone for trails. One day of down time to fix trucks and take wife to Arches National Park and I only had two days of actual trail riding (no regrets though since I finished Top of the World). We did take a side trip to Grand Canyon on the way to Utah which took up a few days but had never been there before and it was great to do so. Of note; North Rim did not open till 15 May and we had wanted to go down a 4X4 road (Point Sublime) to camp and hike. Camping was not an issue although Park camp sites were fully booked. You can camp for free on the service roads in the Kaibab National Forest which surrounds the Canyon. Multiple campers were there with us and we were within two miles of the entrance to the park.

    - One broke truck on Top of the World trail required use of my stock jack. Hi-lift jacks still concern me. We used one twice (once to get someone's diff off a rock (fucker slipped while dropping and flew backwards) and once to lift a truck to disconnect rear end. Dust in the jack proved problematic for operating it (especially dropping it). Lesson learned - no one brought jack stands which would have added a much needed safety factor. Used my grease gun twice (once as we changed out Brian's universal joint at a local bank parking lot on Sunday and when Dave needed to top off his front coil springs.

    - Steve Bender at Moab 4X4 Outpost (http://moab-4x4.com/) was the most helpful person in the world. Scotty broke the spider gears on his truck on Tuesday on the way to Top of the World (he was that close to the top) and required quick repair. Steve had a new ARB locker installed by Thursday afternoon (finding the locker and shipping proved the hardest part). He also assisted us by providing an empty stall during a rainy day (Wednesday) to check over possible bent tie rods on Dave and John's trucks. He is highly recommended by the locals and quite understandably why.

There was. We passed it on the way back to our spot. It was the first FS road as you left the park on the right.
