I agree - If I had house I'd be on that so fast. Alas - condo living won't allow for it.

I keep going back and forth sas for mine. These trucks are just too big for most hard core trails and the cost to do it right with coil overs, it crazy. I've been collecting parts to do it, but I'm seriously looking at buying a buddies old scout 80 and running Toyota running gear in it. Might try to trade my taco for a stock one to commute in or sell it for an '07 tundra body style truck.

Yeah.. I really want to keep my truck but I want a solid front axle more. I have my plans, you'll see ;)

For the most part I've been okay until I went to walker valley. Plus I live so close to rieter but I can't run any trails there

We went right, up the hill. That's the washout that I tried to flop the GX on. Chose a line my 4Runner woulda walked up, and the GX was just too top heavy.

I wouldn't doubt the beaches being sand once the water level drops some. I saw how to get to that place on my map, but we didn't head that way at all.

We will see how work goes. I might end up just coming Friday night-Sunday though. But Im not super interested in the eclipse (be plenty of pictures of it). I guess my mom got a Yurt and a tent site.

Sounds like they did a nice job! Though it does sound interesting as it sounds like once you are on it, that is it as there no bypass's or anything. Could make for an interesting time if you break a axle/CV halfway through

At least Ft Worth has some sort of breeze. Could be worse, Phx in August with no winds.

How do you guys feel about GMRS radios?

After three years of screwing with the CB in my 4Runner, I ripped it out. I don't want to mess with it again in the GX.

So, Expo Portal did one of their world famous Expedition Overland type advertisements, I mean articles on GMRS. I read it, researched on my own, and am ready to play.

$85 for a 5 year license, no big ass antenna, FM freqs, and "secure" channels. Can also communicate with FRS two way radios. (people w/o CBs will be able to talk)

I am going to buy one. Anyone else have one?

My dad has 2 but we don't really use them. I wish everyone ran HAM here. Take the course then the license is free for life and I believe more people use HAM than GMRS but I could be wrong.

The chances of everyone in a group using HAM is slim to none. HAM is cool, but I don't want to take a test (easy as it may be) or a class to talk to someone on a damn radio.

With GMRS I can buy a 6 pack of hand held radios at Costco for $50 and supply radios to a full group.
