I rear-ended a ford ranger yesterday after he stopped suddenly after starting to merge with traffic. It was my fault because I was looking the other direction to make sure I could go. I'm just thankful for my bull bar. The bracket holding it bent, so all I had to do was take off the bar and bend it back. The ford ranger didn't fair so good...

that's not too bad. It looks like you weren't going very fast. Glad your truck came out okay!

I did the same thing with a nissan altima a few years back with my last truck.
Didnt even bend anything, just moved the bull bar back up against my bumper.
    Loosened bolts, re-positioned and resecured.
The nissan had a trip to the collision shop for trunk and rear light damage.

How is it that the damage on your truck is so low, but the damage on the ranger is up it's tailgate? Also, I'm just you jammed the brakes, which would make the nose dive down a little..

I pretty much hit the ranger full gas and no brake. Im guessing where the bull is bent is where it hit the top of his bumper. My truck is also lifted.

Protection is a good thing. Regarding the poor driving, shit happens man.I met up with my mom a couple months ago for lunch. When we left, we were in the parking lot leavinh, she was in front of me waiting to pull out onto the main street. We were both turning right out of the parking lot. There was a break in traffic and she started to go, so I started to go and glanced left to double check to make sure I was clear, and right as I looked left to check, mom stopped in front of me. Doh.

Great to hear. Don't feel too bad. A similar thing happened to me but the damage was reversed.
A lady was stuck around a corner in a parking lot. The corner was on a slope. I thought she was parked and tried to get around her. My truck slid on the ice and I hit her car. My truck had a dent and a scrape and her car had nothing. I felt horrible and stupid having never been involved in an accident before
