Finally got to test it out for more than 5 miles. Red light never comes on, stays blue. I don't hear well so I don't hear any beeps but buddy said he hears 1 beep when moving shifter into S. It's shifting as described and showing the gear on the little screen by speedometer. But I thought the red light was supposed to be on when it's fully connected and working properly. Can I get some positive feedback please? Did I misread the instructions?

I wouldn't imagine it "learns" anything while in S mode.

After months of steady use, any time I switch back to D, I find it goes right back to its old habits. So no, i do not believe it learns anything while in S-mode.

The blue LED will remain lit any time the device is powered on. The red LED will light when the device is engaged. It comes on at the same time you hear the single beep.

The red LED is kept a bit on the dim side (so as to not glow the dash or console at night), so I could understand how it might be tough to see, especially during daylight hours. I would recommend placing your hand over it once to see if it is actually lit.

My moms just got a new Highlander with the Tacoma 3.5, and 8-speed. She absolutely loved it, then I drove with her and complained how it constantly shifts, and is always in to high of a gear. Now she's all pissed at me cause she notices it now.

It's still a really nice vehicle, but it is really high geared. I think reviews said it will do 80mph in 2nd.

Thanks I'll try it at night. It's working, I can definitely feel a huge difference which is so nice. Thanks for a great product.

Question for the team. I did read thru all 29 pages and maybe missed it but will ask anyway.
My '17 Sport has 2500 miles. I'm a key click away from ordering the device however, sooner rather than later she'll be going in for her first 5K Colonoscopy. Once the kit is installed and hidden away, if I simply pulled the OBD connector so the dealership would not give me big balls about the product, would I be able to use D and S mode as before and then simply plug the CPU connector back again after the checkup for it's functionality or would I still need to also disconnect the Shit controller cable also. Thank you guys.

I believe it will respond like normal. No different than turning it off or putting in D mode.

Yes, in the transmission document Toyota states AI ("learning") is disabled while in S mode. So for anyone who is ok with how their trucks shifts after an ECU reset but doesn't like the effect of the AI, driving is S6 will give the results you want.

I went ahead and placed an order today. I will remove every time I bring it to the dealer just to avoid any pointing of finders. I have the 8 year platinum so I'm not going to give them any reason to get out of it.

Instead of completely removing it when bringing it to the Stealership for service, I'll probably just unplug the OBD and tuck it under the dash - the techs at the Stealership are lazy and generally incompetent so I doubt they will ever notice it....

Just make sure the device doesn't still beep when the truck is turned on. Theoretically, it should act as a "pass through" for the truck's original functionality, but if it does beep, that could draw attention to itself. Slim chance of anyone finding it, but depending on why the truck is at the dealer and potential future issues, it may be worth removing it altogether.

Yes, If the power switch on the device is turned off, it will act as a pure pass-through and will not engage or provide any beeps.
