Also as long as you stick a plastic bag in the hole before the puller nothing can really go too far.

What is wrong with your CV shaft? You should only need to replace the Needle Bearing if it is causing the issue.

CV shaft should be ok so long as you weren't putting 10k+ miles on the failed needle bearing.

Remember to buy a new seal with the ECGS Bushing, the OEM seal usually gets torn up on removal.

Anyone know of a reputable shop to complete this work in DFW, TX?

On my "need to do" list with recent suspension upgrade..

    Thanks!

Any shop with a certified mechanic can replace a cv axle theoretically. The hard part is finding one that will accept your self diagnosis and putting aftermarket parts in a warrantied new vehicle see my sig for a link on how you can get a shop to listen

    See my sig for mods
I don't know what size driver pilots are available in, but I made my own I made my own custom aluminum bushing and seal drivers, and the pilot for the bushing ended up being 1.377 diameter for the ID of the bushing and 1.587 diameter for the OD of the bushing. the ID diameter is a couple of thousands smaller in diameter then the ID of the bushing, and about .006 smaller in diameter than the bushing OD.

I also made up a bushing guide out of a scrap piece of aluminum that drops down into the seal bore to keep the bushing square and aligned to the hole so that it goes in straight.

39.5 , but it is not uncommon to have to file the driver down a bit to get a snug fit in the bushing.

I can remember, but the whole kit is only like $25 at home depot and comes with about 10 different sizes. Pretty handy tool to have around.

I would if you haven't done it before. It's cheap, and the factory stuff will be nasty by now if you have over 10k miles.

I've left my rear diff alone. It's already been replaced once by Toyota for howling noise. Waiting to hopefully get the permanent fix eventually. Don't want them to have any excuse not to warranty it.
