    EE quilt.

If not that, the Sierra designs Backcountry Bed is like the BA bags in that it doesn't have insulation on the bottom and has a sleeping bag sleeve. It's very comfy and has the little comforter thing sewn in.

Camp stove swingout! Yup, drilled holes in her, but I think it'll be well worth it.

    18" Partner Steel stove
    RV TV swing mount
Mounted to Total Chaos Bed Stiffeners

    Goals were to:
    Keep gas connected
    Easy to fire it up
Not need a table, but not take up half the tailgate

Okay, I have a question for all you gearheads that are also backpackers. I've got one of the little pocket rocket type of stoves that works really well, particlularly if all you do is boil water. But the burner is so small that the flame is really concentrated into one small area, and doesn't spread heat out over a larger area. Not an issue if all I do is boil water, but if I want to use it while truck camping and fry bacon or eggs, it's a little hard to spread the heat around.

I'm looking at the Primus Yellowstone camp stove. Anyone had any experience with it? I know it doesn't have the piezo ignition, but that's not really an issue with me. Any suggestions?

For car camping, I bumped up to a Coleman. We tried to get away with a backpacking stove for a long time, but just didn't cut it. We used the MSR SuperFly. It's a bump up from the PR with a wider flame head. And it works well. But for us, it's not enough...

Hey did you hear anything about someone getting pulled off the rock yesterday, I was in the valley and I saw the rescue helicopter fly thru, but we were by the falls so we couldn't see anything?

Happens all too frequently to keep up with each incident. Since March there's been nearly 3 a week. Only going to get worse as summer moves in.

Also, they were relocating 551 to the Valley for short haul training for today and tomorrow. (That's where I'm at now)

3 a week is crazy, we probably saw 100 people on all of the rocks, and then left because the valley turned into a parking lot

He was in the area doing multiple day hikes apparently, but wasn't set up for overnighters that anyone knew of. Based on the clothing they listed in the fliers, he was there for a fashion show and not for the conditions.

Clothing wise, He wa set for days hikes but he lacked a basic 10 essentials pack. We have confirmed reports of seeing him on specific days/times up until that last day. Highly suspected that he's in the river.

Agree with this. Even a basic Coleman Classic will do, and is what I use.

in Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton you can rent canisters from most backcountry offices, just gotta ask.

I feel the same way about Yellowstone. Hate seeing people ruin it...bothering the animals, walking on and writing in the geysers...all because they don't understand the importance of rules!

This little burner is heavier, but still plenty compact for backpacking and provides a wider flame (burner is twice as wide as most pocket stoves, and the pot rest feet are wider/stronger). It's built like a tank but does not have a piezo igniter. You can put a 2 quart pot full of water on it and it will hold. Also consider using anodized aluminum frying pan (or plate) as it disperses heat much more evenly than titanium or regular aluminum, providing a wider hot spot. And, anodizing prevents aluminum from getting into your food and giving you Alzheimer's plus it is much stronger and won't dent unless you get really rough with it.
