I would assume if OBD is unplugged the device has no power and therefore would not beep

If the power switch is left "On" (as in if it is mounted inside the shift console) but the connector to the diagnostics port under the dash is unplugged... then what happens?

this is what I was wondering as well. I guess it depends if it's getting
it power from the S connector or the ODB2 port...which is my deciding
factor for where I'll attach the device as I don't want to pull the console
apart anytime I have to bring it in, I'll just be asking for broken clips and
it not seating properly if that's done too often.

    a bunch of mods

If you were to switch to S mode and it is not seeing data from OBD it will immediately cancel, provide the 3 beeps and s-mode works as OEM (you make the manual shifts)

    edit:
it gets its power from shift lever not OBD. Reason is because OBD is hot +12 all the time, and lever is only hot when key is on.

thanks man, kinda what I was thinking. I'm going to go with putting it up
under the dash where I can reach the toggle switch - no beeps when toggled
to off under any circumstances, correct?

Final location - used industrial strength velcro... And can easily move it up another inch or so...

Does this controller shift based on speed or also based on the pedal input?
If I slam on the gas will the gear hold all the way up to the top of the rpm's?

installed today. fits nicely under center console right next to shifter. the cord to the OBD2 port is just long enough to reach from this spot. The beeps are not detectable. You would literally have to stop everything you are doing, focus on the listening for the beeps AND have the windows up to hear a beep. Took the truck for a drive across town in heavy traffic. The truck now shifts the way I expected it to when I purchased it. Admittedly, I haven't driven in all types of terrain yet but I don't expect anything less than to be totally satisfied. Thank you @dcz108.

Agree. Really changes the truck's personality. Well worth the money. I'll be anxious to tow with it also.

Here is a no thrills video driving around immediately after plugging in . I stored the unit under the charging area vs sticking it to the side console . Completely hidden .

My intital impression is it shifts more "sporty" and doesn't seem nearly as bogged down .

One thing I noticed initially is when letting off the gas above 50 MPH there was a significant lag time of 13 seconds before the transmission up shifted to 4th gear . This can be seen in the video from 3:15 to 3:40 .

Overall , It's much less laggy , and drives better . I wish they would have kept the 4.0 and transmission from my FJ .

    3" lift with 305 70 16 Toyo AT

    Enjoy .

Could you do a video of it in "D" so we can get a baseline comparison?
