The driver door window on my 01 DC rattles pretty bad when closing the door unless it is all the way up or down. Any idea what I could do to snug it up again? Any small parts or would this require a whole new rail setup?

there should be a little hex head bolt on the edge of the door that you can tighten (but not too tight because it will break) that will solve this issue

ill try and get a pic tomorrow when its daylight

that bolt holds the window track secure and can loosen over time...just tighten it down a bit and it should help

Glad I found this discussion! I have a 16 Tacoma and my back passenger window is having the same issue. When the window is rolled down half way. I am able to rock the window side to side. When window is rolled all the way down you can hear the window banging around inside the door.
Fingers cross this will be the fix for my truck.

I just read this and since my driver's side front window is banging around inside the door. I thought I'd be able to just go out and tighten it. But it doesn't even have the 10mm hex head bolt at all! Should be able to go to a hardware store and replace it? But if you look closely at the picture the metal around it, is bent and looks like the bolt was ripped out

My 16 doesn't have a bolt on the back passenger door. Hope this will be covered under my warranty.

makes me wonder how long it was like that before finally falling out. But yeah, you should be able to hit up a hardware store for a bolt. Put some thread lock on it.

If you look at the picture the metal is actually bent. Like the bolt got ripped out.

Ran across this post thank to Mr. Google. Just registered at Tacomaworld.com in order to post a Thank You to 'JimBeam'! My windows been rattling a bit just as the OP's was. I was thinking I'd have to at least remove the inside driver side door panel... thanks for saving me the time I would have otherwise spent. Problem solved. Good day to you, sir!

swapped bench for bucket seats, monstalinered the bed.
Just bought my first Tacoma (2003 2.4 regular cab) and my mechanic was excited to hear it. I have this same bolt issue and rattling in the door. The window opens and closes all right but there's rattling when closing the door. My limited mechanical skill tells me that bolt is supposed to secure something on the inside. What is it? Is there an exploded view of this door somewhere? I'm just trying to figure out what I'll face once I pop the door panel. Also, can anyone tell me the exact bolt I'm looking for? Much appreciated. Let me just say, I drove two hours to buy this thing, and I was stunned in the good way at the way it drives. I think we'll love this vehicle. I've posted a pic of the missing bolt, but if it doesn't come through, it looks just like the previous one, except there's no bending of metal at the hole. The truck has been repainted, if that explains where the bolt went. I thought it might be inside. No idea what's actually rattling in there. Thanks for any help.
