If you like wide skates try some Bauer Nexus. The biggest problem with Bauer is that they make their lines to fit specific feet but big chain stores like sportschek just recommend whatever is in stock. I once watched a sportschek associate recommend to a parent who was looking for a wider skate the Vapor lineup the kid wanted even though they are the narrowest skate Bauer makes. That leads to bad fits and a bad rep even though Bauer makes a skate to fit almost any foot.

Too clarify I did mean the blades. Most people have cheap holders which have a tendency loosen up after blade replacements, I'm looking at you CCM, Graf, and Reebok. Those brands use screws which wear the plastic every time you remove them which leads to them loosening over time. So yes, if you own a pair of those skates the harder ice will wreck your skate holders if you keep changing blades. Of course you can always get new holders but on cheap skates the holder is worth almost as much as the skate so, yeah, it wrecks the skate most people use. Before someone gets upset about saying harder ice, remember arena ice is held at a constant temperature where outdoor ice here can be as cold a -20 c which causes the semi melt layer that skates actually ride on to be much thinner. That means you have more blade contacting the ice itself and when you add on that outdoor ice is rarely as smooth as zamboni'd indoor ice you will wear down your skate blade much faster and usually unevenly which causes performance issues. Just ask any skate sharpener, don't use your blades outdoors if you want to keep them in good shape. That, or do what I did and by the new Bauers with the newest trigger version of the Tuuk blade system which uses zero screws so the blades always stay tight no matter how many times you change them.

Being a ref for higher level minor hockey I've seen a few comical skate holder failures, and 90% of the time it's on one of the brands I've mentioned where a screw managed to come loose. Some people have tried loctite but since some of the force keeping the screw in comes from contact with the plastic holder it doesn't work nearly as well as you'd think. I know several people with higher end Grafs that ended up redrilling the skates for Bauer Tuuk holders after blowing out a blade in a game that mattered.

This. I have run some form of the Reebok Pump skate since they have been out (higher end models). Finally I almost broke my ankle because the screws in the holder wore out and my blade was coming slightly loose like every few times I had a game or clinic. I finally had enough and listened to the many people saying to ditch them for Bauer. I bought Vapors with the trigger and never looked back. I also have seen many people bolt the Tuuk holder onto other brand boots. It takes a bit to get used to the rocker, going from a CCM/Reebok to the Bauer but after that, it is much better. As far as natural ice (I play on small lakes mostly for that) I just use older skates. I don't like how choppy the ice is and won't risk messing with my game skates.

The first game could've went either way. After game two, one would think it's Nash who is being dominated ... which is funny, because early on in that same game it looked as if Anaheim was inferior by a w-i-d-e margin.

The Preds need to establish a hurt-locker for a full 60 as it's apparent Anaheim is sticking to a certain game plan ... and it's working.
