The lean and the lift

    So I got my OME 883 coils & OME front/rear shocks and Wheelersoffroad 5 leaf rear spring pack installed, and it's almost exactly the look I was going for on my 03 Double Cab (new tires on the wish list, but not for a long while). The front was raised up just over two inches and the rear almost 2 inches. Now the rear needs another inch to make it look just right (it's 1/2 lower than the front after the install). What's my best option to get the rear up 1/2 to 1 more inch? My local mechanic says to wait a couple thousand miles and see if the springs settle.

    Also, what of the old Taco lean? My truck seems to list about a half inch to the driver's side. Is it a body issue? What have you guys done to correct this, if anything? I can live with it, but if I can fix it I'd rather not live with it.

    Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
    yep... let the front suspension settle first...

    if it still isnt to your liking look at a shackel lift.

    A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
    Fuel tank, driver and battery are all on the driver side...hence the driver side lean. ToyTec makes a 1/4" top spacer kit to compensate.

    Not saying you're wrong, but I just have a hard time believing this.
    What does a battery weigh- 15-20 pounds? Even with an empty tank, and no driver sitting in the truck, with all new springs, it still leans. That just doesn't make sense. There's got to be, in my mind anyway, something else to look at to explain the lean.

    its called the taco lean and it is very common in the tacoma. it has to do with weight dist.

    Ever since I got the truck and started reading I've heard of the Taco Lean.
    But I assume it doesn't affect every truck, right? If not, why not? It's just one of those things that will plague my conscious thought until I can find an explanation :confused:

    It does affect every truck but varies.

    OME 885 coils, Bilstein 5100 shocks, 1.5" AAL, TC uca's, cab mount chop, 5000k HID heads and fogs, LED tails, satoshi GC w/ Hella 500's mounted behind it with 5000k HID upgrade, Extang solid tri-fold tonneau cover, Yakima roof rack, fog light anytime mod, disable a/c defrost mod
    i'd say the battery is closer to 50 lbs from when i lifted it out. together with a 200 lb guy driving and 150 lbs of gas, that's about 400 lbs extra on the driver's side. i'd say it's significant...
