Sounds like a rough week. Although having her wedding at the graduation dinner makes sense to me. Everyone is already together might as well kill two birds with one stone.

I'm so sorry you're having such a shit day. :( I totally know how you feel though. Like, literally. Here's a fun story:

So my best friend gets engaged. I'm SO excited because I'm super close to her fiance and they're perfect and blah blah blah. So they decide that they're not in a rush and will just figure out when he has leave and when they can make it happen. This is in March.

Fast forward to July. I'm in Spokane with my best friend, her family, and her fiance. We're talking about the wedding and one of her sisters says something about, "But you guys are already technically married, right?" What. The. Hell. My best friend realizes the cat's out of the bag and she takes me downstairs and explains everything to me.

They'd actually gotten married in NOVEMBER of the previous year (BEFORE they were publicly engaged...). They only told limited family members and only like two other friends that worked with her fiance because they wanted to keep it hush-hush. I was super upset. My best friend had gotten married secretly SEVEN MONTHS BEFOREHAND and I had had no idea. She said they still wanted to have a public wedding and asked me to be her maid of honor. I said yes, but I was still so freaking upset about the whole thing. We went back upstairs and her fiance asked if I'd be his best man. I agreed to this, too.

It sucked. Like, it sucked a lot. But I eventually got over it. It was what they wanted to do. I still know a lot more than most of her family (they all think they've been married an entire year less than they actually have been....). We joke about it now and I will seriously never let her live it down. But it hurt a lot at the time. I was heartbroken that I wasn't involved in my best friend's wedding.

So don't sever ties. It's not personal. It has nothing to do with you at all. That's a hard pill to swallow, too. Just be happy for them. It's okay to be hurt, but they didn't do it to hurt you.

I'm sorry you're having a bad day. If I was there, I'd give you all the beer you wanted and curl up next to the fire with you. Love you, boo.

That's true. It sucks. Nothing anyone says will make it better for you while it's fresh and you're hurt and sulking either. In the end she didn't do it to hurt you and it's her choice to make so you have to respect it even if you don't agree with it.

I know it's not precisely the same, but I definitely felt betrayed and lied to. It sucked. And nothing anyone said to me for a while made me feel any better. All I can suggest is to not make any rash decisions. She didn't do it to hurt you and it wasn't personal at all.

When you're hurting it's hard to not want to hurt them back a little most of the time.

There's a difference between a "reason" and "rationalization".

(And NEITHER apply in any logical sense here)
